New energy drink that promises energy levels “350% greater than The Bull!” is out, and thats not the real news, the controversy comes from the name used to market it.
The level of energy is too much obviously and could be very dangerous since people use stuff like red bull for parties, which means they’re getting a caffeine rush plus using up alot of energy and getting dehydrated, which could be fatal. So now they’re giving you 350% the rush and marketing it as “the legal alternative”

Look at the way “Cocaine” is written too, its like cocaine was used to make the name too!
The drink has been causing controversy all over the place for very obvious reasons….and you can’t blame people for getting upset! I wouldn’t be happy to see kids and everyone using a term like cocaine in their daily conversations!

I really get very annoyed when it comes to spelling mistakes…and I don’t mean spelling mistakes in a blog or an email or something simple like that, I mean when it’s in something that’s public and especially if its something that is printed or paid for like a menu or a billboard and so on….
These two I saw last weekend, one from Fuddruckers and the other from Bredz. The Bredz one is not as bad because its a small paper that they can change, but the Fudds one was something they had on their mats that they put on every table for every customer! How can they go ahead and print something like that (they definitely print thousands of copies) without double checking the few words there?

This second one from Bredz is more funny that frustrating, more for the fact that Bredz have Machboos than the spelling!! lol!

Every Friday my wife and I go for lunch at a restaurant, and our weekly dilemma is always “sooo….where do you want to eat today??” and this question gets thrown back and forth from the time we get up till the time we’re in the car driving to the yet unknown destination! Eventually something has to pop that we agree on….
Anyway that got me thinking about posting my top 5 restaurants in Kuwait, and feel free to invite me to any of them at any time -
1 - Edo - Best sushi in town, what I like about them is that they don’t go crazy with their sushi, they try to keep it as simple as possible in terms of ingredients. Also, the atmosphere is very relaxed and chill, everything is white and the music is nice and loungy, I always feel happy whenever I enter Edo!
2- Casper & Gambini’s - My home away from home. I’m sure I’ve had more food from Casper’s in the past two years than from anywhere else including home! Their service is incredible, they’re the best at customer relations, also their food is very delicious and healthy, and always 20 mins away by one phone call!
3- Maki - Maki is what made sushi cool in Kuwait! Their sushi is excellent too, except for my taste they have been overdosing their sushi with extra sauces and spicy mayo and such….it obviously happened because the market demands so you cant blame them! The atmosphere is very different, its very loud and dark and the tables are right next to each other, so its the perfect place for guys and girls to hang out in a cool place with good food and also get a chance to check each other out! The Marina Waves Maki is amazing by the way!
4- Chilis - In my opinion, this is the best family oriented restaurant in Kuwait! I really like their food, and I like the fact that when you go there for lunch or dinner, its always full, and alot of families and couples go there too! Many places offer same kind of food (Friday’s, Ruby Tuesday, Applebee’s), but for me Chilis has the best food and crowd.
5- Villa Fayrouz - I’m not a huge fan of Lebanese food, but Villa Fayrouz is exceptional when it comes to the starters (mazza). I never order a main course there, its always 5 or 6 starters, and they are amazing! I’ve never left that place unsatisfied! Also, the atmosphere is very nice too, with Fayrouz in the background and nice atmosphere!
These are my choices for my favourite 5 restaurants here in Kuwait ……… opinions and thoughts??Also I’d like to see your lists!

Everybody loves a good hot dog! The best thing about hot dogs is that you can eat one at any time, between meals as a snack, between snacks as a mini snack….and as a meal too! They are great because they are very uncomplicated, cook them any way you want (takes maximum of 3 mins), then put them in a bun, and go crazy….right??
Apparently, these guys want to rediscover the wheel ….

So far so good, right?? The picture of a hotdog on their package is put on a small booklet that includes more pictures…
After this main cover page, things start to go wrong…..very wrong…
They start giving “alternative” suggestions for using the hot dog! First suggestion -

Hot dogs with your cole slaw….hmmm, if this doesnt kill your appetite, wait till you read their punchline, which is roughly translated to “Cole slaw lovers will enjoy adding some protien to the salad”! Hmmm…..no?! Its cole slaw, Im not a big fan, but even if I was, I cant imagine meat with my cole slaw! And who came with the great idea of referring to your hot dogs as “protien”??
Let’s continue -

Hot dog soup! Mmmmm..mmmmmm ….. If the sound of that wasn’t bad enough, they sure killed it with the picture, although the concept is enough to discourage you! The caption says “Enjoy (for a female) a soup rich with protien, vitamins, and fiber, a delicious and healthy soup”! Again, it sounds like a chemistry lesson, and I felt weird reading this after realizing this product or brochure is directed purely for women
Suggestion 3 -

Aaah yes, the ever famous hot dog biryani, an all time Indian cuisine classic! eww….I wont even have to comment on this one!
Last, but by no means least -

Apparently this is “Maccaroni with vegetables and hot dog”, I do see maccaroni in the picture, and I see vegetables, and I see hot dog, but this doesnt really look like a specific dish, it just looks like a mix of yesterday’s leftovers!
After checking out these great suggestions, do you feel more likely or less likely to buy this product??
Peronally, one simple picture of this product at its greatest would do a much better job in making me want to buy some hot dogs -

Ahh yes, how great is simplicity? Im a big believer in the saying “If it aint broken….don’t fix it”! And this is an example of how you can make something classic and delicious like a hot dog seem less than appetizing!

I went to Taal restaurant last weekend with my wife, its the new Indian restaurant in AlBidi3 area (near Thai-Chi and Sarai), the food was really good, especially the grilled section. Anyway, more on that later if I have time, but after the grilled lamb skewers, the beryani, the paneer makhni, the samosas, and the bread….I had that feeling you always get after this kind of meal…
You know the feeling Im talking about? The one where feel bloated, heavy, lightheaded, sleepy, losing some of your senses, and you feel you’re so full that even your ears get blocked! This feeling comes beyond the satisfaction part, bcz u feel satisfied when you taste all the good food and enjoy it, but that feeling im talking about hits you like a sledge hammer about 10 mins after you eat! And what makes it worse is when the waiter comes and asks you if you want to look at the dessert menu…you feel like you want to punch him for disgusting you, if only you had enough energy and concentration to do so after all that food….
Anyway, this got me to thinking….
I have a suggestion for all Indian, Chinese, Persian, and Lebanese restaurants….
After a nice big meal at a restaurant serving one of the previously mentioned cuisines (especially Indian), almost everybody has the same feeling … I would pay good money for someone to roll me back to my car instead of walking all the distance…how cool would it be for a waiter to come and ask if you would like to be wheeled back to your car instead of asking if you want to stuff yourself with more food, and sweets to make things worse!
I suggest a wheelchair service to be used in all heavy duty restaurants to deliver every serious eater back to their car!
Thank you.

Kuwaitism Weekend Survey Results….Burgermania!
Posted by Q under Kuwait , Surveys , Food[30] Comments
With what I think is the lowest number of participants in my polls so far, Johnny Rockets’ burgers are the best in Kuwait!!
Well, for all u Johnny Rockets lovers, I think I heard that they will be open soon somewhere closer than Salmiya, not sure though, so I wont mention it…
Burger Boutique has to be mentioned because getting 23% of the votes in the short time that it opened is surely an achievement!
I shouldnt have even mentioned Chilis or Fridays but at least now I know for sure..
Where would you find the best ‘non-fastfood’ burger in Kuwait?

Survey time again….and since Im craving a good burger, I figured I’ll ask a question that would help me and other burger seeking individuals ….

Guess what?? Like their campaign says …. u guys are lovin’ it! McDonald’s is the king of fast food!
Shawarma comes 2nd, with Hardeez and Subway following…..
The major surprise here to me is KFC with ZERO votes!! This is the restaurant that spends more on advertising in Kuwait than any of the others mentioned! Supposedly it is also one of the best performing restaurants here, but I guess the bloggers disagree …..
What is your favorite fast food restaurant in Kuwait?
