I haven’t posted anything in ages I know, but I have been very busy recently with a minor block in mental abilities.

Anyway, after my 2 previous attempts at creating videos and posting them on youtube, I finally decided to make a 3rd one!

The first one I did was - firqat bin figure stick, then - Sheelay Gashich, and now the latest installment -

Bitro7lak Mishwar

enjoy!

Friday night, from 9 - 11, you have the best music on FM 99.7! Listening to it right now made me want to say it again!

DJ Maha hosts this show weekly, and the description from the 99.7 website (which sucks) -

Bringing you the laid back hybrid of techno and jazz The Late Night Lounge is a one hour special show featuring the best of world fusion, chillout, chillhouse, ambient house, acid jazz, ambient break beats and more!!! It’s a live show on Monday nights from 10 – 11 PM. Described as “pretty good tempo” without being ” too clubby”.

The website hasn’t been updated in ages, they still have the song Toxic as top 10, so Im guessing the timing of the show changed too.

The best thing about the show is that you probably never heard of any of the songs! No mainstream stuff, no pop, no rap or R&B, none of that everyday crap! Its 2 hours of relaxation and admiration of the Dj’s choice of music!

Don’t miss it next Friday. I know I should’ve mentioned it yesterday or something, but its on now and I had to post about it.

This has to be one of the funniest things I have seen on YouTube!

عائلة بندلي - Do you love me?

I never heard of these guys before … عائلة بندلي , and apparently this was shot in Kuwait in 1978!

I would love to know more information if any of you knows much! There is alot more of them on YouTube and its all great stuff!

I can’t get the song out of my head!

video on YouTube

I recommend you check out all the videos this person uploaded, really great stuff you cant get anywhere else on the net!

عليا حسين / الحمد لك

This second one is not as funny, but very very interesting! Check it out and compare it to our time! Just beautiful!

My cousin is a movie aficionado and someone who has really good taste in movies. Every now and then, he sends me a link to some film or animation or commercial that he found, and they are always brilliant!

He sent me an email two days ago with a link to download a movie called “West Bank Story”, a very funny and smart combination of West Side Story and Romeo & Juliet. It is a story of two competing falafel stands in the West Bank.

The movie was nominated this year for an Oscar in the Best Short Film / Live Action category, and won!

To watch it, download it from these links (I hope it stays there) -

Tell me what you think after you see it ..

* بو راشد - كامكو
* القبقب - اتصالات
* يبيله - الوطني
* نقوشي - كميفك
* شغل عدل - الأهلي
* صانع القارب - كامكو ؟؟
* مقشرة - كامكو
* ماي ستايل - سالمية مول

Do you like kick ass action and martial arts? Do you like comedy? Do you like great special effects?

If your answer is a yes to all of these questions, then Stephen Chow is your movie night savior!

If you’re in the mood for a really light-hearted really funny movie full of really great action sequences and more creativity than anything you’ve seen, go and get Shaolin Soccer!

I must’ve seen this movie at least 3 times, and I still laugh so much everytime! It is one of the wackiest, craziest films you will see. I loved the main actor, and when you see the movie, you will love the directing too. So imagine what a great surprise it was when I found out that Stephen Chow was both the main actor and the director!!

The guy takes martial arts to a different level, adding technology to the mix of great moves and comedy used by Jackie Chan. Shaolin Soccer ended up being the highest grossing movie in Hong Kong history, and rightfully so!

Stephen Chow did a new movie last year, which was titled Kung Fu Hustle. I saw this movie a couple of days ago, and again I wasn’t disappointed at all! It is a very different than Shaolin Soccer in that it is not as much a comedy. It still is funny, but it is much more action packed and is much darker than the first one. On one of the posters it says “Think KILL BILL meets LOONEY TUNES”, which is a perfect description of it!

Basically, I highly recommend both movies, and his acting and directing of both movies is excellent and places him very high in my favorite personalities’ list!

Doesn’t he remind you of Bruce Lee just a bit?! Hopefully he will have a much longer career!

I read this just now, and couldn’t not post it! This is taken from Reuters.

——————————————————————————-

MANAMA (Reuters) - Michael Jackson, acquitted this month of child sex abuse charges, turned up in the Gulf Arab country of Bahrain on a private visit to “relax,” a Bahraini official said on Thursday.

“He (Jackson) is here in Bahrain on a friendly visit, to relax and enjoy the hospitality of Bahrain. He is a long time friend of the (royal) family,” the official, who requested anonymity, told Reuters.

Jackson was flown to Bahrain on Wednesday on a private jet from Los Angeles and will stay for a few days at an undisclosed residence, the official said.

The 46-year-old pop star has a large fan base in Bahrain and other Gulf countries.

A U.S. court acquitted Jackson of child sex abuse charges this month, in a trial that had threatened to destroy his career and send him to prison for nearly two decades.

I like music, but recently my taste in music has been changing and switching more than Kuwait’s national coach position! Anyway, not much music has been really grabbing my attention. Today, at the airport virgin store, a friend of mine, who will soon be contributing to this blog with a story of his, recommended an album to me. When I saw it I remembered seeing the singer on Jay Leno or Letterman and I remember really liking it, so I bought the album.

Excellent stuff!! It’s like taking a really nice trip to a really cool relaxing place! It’s Swing/Jazz at its best. Enjoy!

Not many of you may remember this, but back in November, I decided to boycott the monopolizing disrespectful company called KNCC. For a full explanation of why and so on, check out this long discussion at Zaydoun’s blog back in Novemeber.

I have to admit, I was tempted more than once to break that boycott, and if you’re gonna comment and say something to the effect of me boycotting wont affect the company, then my response is I dont care! I still believe that company doesnt deserve a single fils and although it wont change anything, im sticking to my principals!

To be honest Im proud of myself for holding out so long. I love going to the cinema, used to go as often as i could. Some decent films have come and gone but I still stood firm! I was lucky that I was in Qatar when Star Wars “Return of the Sith” came out so I was able to see it there. It nearly caused me to break my boycott seeing everyone happy and talking about it!

Anyway, I heard alot about Batman Begins, mostly good stuff! I knew it was out in Kuwait, and I really want to watch it!! But I still refuse to give my hard earned money to them. I reached my weakest point 3 days ago, while passing by Laila Gallery, I craved a good movie and popcorn and all that, and suggested to my wife that we go. She said its up to me (she has been more than great about this boycott thing, totally understanding and didnt complain not even once about wanting to go!). So I thought about it a while and realized that we would be very tight on time since we had plans later. As soon as I said lets forget about it, I got a phone call from a weird number. It was someone who had 2 invitations for me to attend Batman Begins at Fanar as part of an MNet promotion! Zaydoun had a post about this event last week, so I guess they did it again!

How lucky was that?!? I get to watch the movie finally, and without paying a cent to KNCC!! Technically, I am still on boycott, but when I get an invitation from a friend, its impolite to refuse, right?! ;P

I didnt even buy popcorn or drinks or anything from them!! As soon we left we got water! hahahahahahahaha!

OK by story is over, now for a few comments about the movie and the event. The movie is EXCELLENT! It is extremely dark and creepy and a perfect Batman movie without any childish elements! As for the event, the invitation was really elegant and nicely designed. It said 6:30pm, my wife and I and another group were the only people inside the theater at 6:30! The show didnt start till 7, which is ridiculous! Made us waste half an hour and messed up plans we had for later!! Even at 7, people were still strolling into the theater!! And plz dont tell me u put 6:30 so ppl come at 7! That is just stupid and disrespectful for people who actually have the decency to come in time!

The worst part of the evening was that the theater itself was basically a fridge! The temperature could not have been above 15 degrees! So imagine the first half hour of waiting, plus the 2 hours and 20 mins of film time, I left the theater with no feelings left in my nose or ears! CRAP company!

MNet on their other hand are a good company, and they were nice enough to invite us and they deserve a free ad here :)
