There have been several new newspapers in the market. A friend was commenting a couple of days ago about the lack of creativity in their production, basically they all followed each other, take a look -

Notice the smiliraties? The main thing I would guess is trying to go away from the old newspaper styles, and using color for their branding. The fonts are also very different to what was previously used, although a few newspapers have already changed their font, AlSeyassah and AlRai come to mind, and I think AlAnba also did.
A quick look at international newspapers, you will notice that the logos above are similar to newer newspapers and closer to tabloid newspaper logos. You have all these newspapers which are older than 100 years old -

And then you have the newer ones and the tabloids -

Notice the similarities?

I liked al Jarida’s design and color but yeah, I don’t get why the rest couldn’t come up with a different look.
Now they all look the same.
For Awan I expected a more classic/chic design.. Headlinnes font and size are annoying, and the text font is outdated.
I like the color but it’s too flashy for a daily paper.
As for Annahar, my problem is with their name. Annahar to me is and will always be the Tueni’s.

True they all look the same.
And 10 newspaper is too much.
Awan looks like a publication from Qadsiya club.

At least they look kinda modern… Alam Al-Youm looks like an Egytian/Syrian/Iraqi newspaper circa 1981

I started naming them by color now. Remembering their names has become too confusing.

Notice the little drawing between the ‘Aleph’ and the ‘Lam’ in An-Nahar. It is so unoriginal. You will find it repeated in one form or another in most of the older Kuwaiti newspaper logos.
It looks like something that might have been added at the end ‘after’ the original design was completed.
Aljarida is very very well done. Beautiful, and very appealing; It grabbed my attention from day one. I love it!

the similarities are not only in the style of each new newspapers but also in the contents of each, did you read the headlines of each papers in the last five days, my god same wording , same pictures, same stories, i thought like one editor is running the show. i believe buying one paper a day is enough to know whats going on in kuwait politics, economic and social life, no mention the (kuna) wire which is disgusting.

Mashalla 3alaik mola7athat ! ;p
I like the comparison between our newspapers and the tabloids.
But if you notice, the older newspapers with the gothic font were found ages ago, compared to our humble newspapers so kilish no comparison there.
But again, very interesting !

one is blue, one is purple, one is yellow (three different unique colors). Every font is unique too. The layout they use is modern and is the least you can expect in this day and age in terms of readability and clarity (although al Jareda tops all in the layout) and so if it looks similar, thats because its the standard in modern newspapers.
So can someone explain to me why anyone would claim they look the same ?

as long the creativity is in the logo and not the story am fine with it.

The AWAN billboard has a big headline saying “Awan Lel ta3′yeer”..hmmm TIME FOR A CHANGE!!! …why do I always get the feeling that the marketing campaigns for these logos start in English and end up in a bad Arabic translation which makes it lose its essence.
