موضوع البيئة حاليا هو الموضوع الأهم دوليا و متوقع أن يمثل دور كبير في انتخابات أمريكا السنة القادمة
زيارة رئيسة الوزراء الألمانية ميركل لجورج بوش في مزرعته الأسبوع الماضي كان من أهم أهدافها الاتفاق على ضوابط بيئية
الرئيس الفرنسي ساركوزي أعلن قبل أكثر من شهر عن بداية الثورة الخضراء لفرنسا
رئيس الوزراء البريطاني يضع البيئة في مقدمة المواضيع المهمة لحكومته
جائزة نوبل للسلام تذهب لآل غور و منظمة بيئية
أكبر تجمع دولي بيئي يقام في اندونيسيا الشهر القادم بحضور 180 دولة

هل تتوقعون راح يكون للبيئة أي أهمية بانتخابات المجلس القادمة؟
ممكن أي مرشح يتطرق للموضوع في البرنامج الانتخابي؟

KM and shosho, unfortunately I totally agree. These people want the 50KD increase and loans gone even if it hurts the future generations, the last thing they will care about is the world after they’re dead.

المشكلة لو معهد الابحاث يتنحنح شوي و يعرض شنو يسوون على الناس و على النواب، بعدين اذا اغلب النواب ما كملوا ثنوية شلون تبيهم يتكلمون عن البيئة اهم اول شي خل يعرفون شنو معناها……!!!؟
الناس هني بالكويت علبالها البيئة و المحافظة على البيئة اهي ان ندز 4 عمال نظافة البحر يلقطون قواطي البيبسي، او نيمع جم طير و نقطهم بالبر……!!!؟
صار لنا 7 سنين نردح للناس تنظيف الشواطيء و خل نسوي توعية للناس، اخرتها اليابانيين من السفير لين اصغر ياهل اهم الحين قاعد ينظفون شواطئنا، و ربعنا لما نقول لهم ينطون لك و يقولون: احنا نشتغل خمامين……؟!؟
عموما اذا حاب تتطوع الباب مفتوح

الطريقة الوحيدة التي تجعل فيها اي نائب او مرشح يتبنى قضية، هي ان تجعلها مطلب شعبي و تجعل منها و تحوّلها الى قضية سياسية، و تجبر النائب او المرشح على تبنيها، و من ثم تحاسبه شعبيا..
خلق الوعي و تحريك الناس ليس بيد اي نائب و لا اي مرشح..هو اولا و اخيرا بايدينا..محّد راح يتبرّع لنا بحمل قضايانا منّي و الطريج
السؤال: هل فينا مهتم و مستعد للتحرك على الصعيد السياسي

I was once taking a group of my younger relatives on a boat trip in the Nile and before we boarded the guy started taking our tickets, tearing them and then throwing them in the water. Wanting to set a good example for the kids I asked him:
“Leh keda ya 7ag, mesh 3aref ennak keda betbawaz el bee2a?”
So he says:
“Ya basha bee2et eh w btaa3 eh, el bee2a di foo2!!!”
So the answer is that as long as the people who elect the officials see the “bee2a foo2″ and don’t understand the effect of pollution on their lives, we will never have a word about the environment in our politics.
It will just be another useless ministry where ministers go to retire or where women can be appointed to show that we have equal opportunity as well as caring for the environment.
What a sad little part of the world we are.

Why would they be interested in the environment? it will not make him more popular when people cant care less about the environment.. when my husband and I started using our cloth tot bag for our groceries in sul6aan we got lots of weird looks and even some of our friends were kind hmmm… not supportive to say the least.. we need to educate our children and raise their environmental awareness and maybe when dhari is old enough to run for majles el umma we will see this kind of change.
we ran into an old couple friends in sul6an and when they teasingly laughed at us for using the re-useable cute huge comfortable to carry tote for our groceries we jokingly explained to them that dhari (our 3 years old) feels strongly about the environment and that the plastic bags are almost impossible to recycle and they need almost 500-1000 years to break down.. suddenly the lady was ENRAGED answering back with a very aggressive defensive tone it was like I struck a nerve “but I do recycle the bags I re use them for the trash cans around the house!” lol I couldn’t say a word after that! This is coming from a mother of 2 a very smart educated woman married to the smartest kindest guy who is a diver so he understands first hand what does it mean to have a clean beautiful environment. Fa im not even gonna suggest that we work together as a community to make this issue top of our concerns its enough for now to teach it to our children and allow them to do their part later on.. Do I need to go on listing the times I saw a smoking father carrying his infant or the mother with 3 children teaching them how to let go of the pepsi cans and ice-cream cones in the middle of the mall or the breaded father opening the window to spit out his meswaach with his children watching? Walla lately ive been meeting with lots of kids and teachers and I have to say that Im very optimistic! Ya3ni for a bookstore like ours that specializes in children’s books on the environment and healthy living to make it and survive in this world full of barney dvds and video games ya3ni it has to make u optimistic, in fact seeing how passionate the teachers nowadays feel about it and how well educated on the subject our youngsters are, madree to me its very promising o uplifting o refreshing!
p.s. amreeka maglooba recalls 3ala brand name toys 6ala3 feeha toxic levels of lead o hal toys bel thab6 mawjoodeen bel Kuwait. Ghair el cheap Chinese stuff ham kellhum toxic to the brain development. Wanasa?

البيئة لم ولن تكن أولوية عند شعوبنا. ولن تكن من ضمن اهتمامات الناخب لا في الاتخابات القادمة ولا اللي بعدها.
والسبب لان قيمنا (ان كان عندنا قيم) تختلف عن قيم الناس في فرنسا والمانيا وبريطانيا.
البيئة الصحراوية خلقت فينا بداوةعند غير البدو ورسخت البداوة عند البدو.
لا أقصد اهانة أحد هنا ولكن أقصد بالبداوة هي علاقة الانسان مع الارض. البدو قديما كانوا يبحثون عن أرض صالحة لرعي الأغنام وبعد الاستفادة منها الانتقال الى أرض أخرى غير مكترثين بما حصل في الارض الاولى لانها لا تعنيهم.
وعدم الاهتمام في هذه الأرض المحدودة ما كان ليكن لو أن البدوي كان يهتم بالأرض ككل ولو كان يشعر بالمسؤولية اتجاهها ولو كان يخطر بباله أن أبنائه وأحفاده سيعيشون في نفس الأرض التي هو عليها الأن.
الناخب عندنا يفكر بنفسه وبيومه والناخب البريطاني يفكر بمستقبل أبنائه وبمستقبل الكوكب الذي يعيش عليه بعد مماته. الناخب الفرنسي يضغط على حكومته لاتخاذ اجراءات قد تضر حاضره ولكن تنقذ مستقبل الأرض بعد مماته.
افرض ان مرشحا لمجلس الامة اتى وطرح موضوع البيئة على الناخبين وقال لهم أن الحياة قد تنتهي على وجه الأرض خلال 100 عام اذا لم نحافظ على البيئة الان! أضمن لك أنه سيسمع من يقول له احنا شكو أو منو بعيش 100 سنة، قولي انا شلون استفيد وخل مشاكل المستقبل للمستقبل!
أنا شخصيا لا أريد الأجيال القادمة أن تلعن أبناء جيلي بسبب أنانيتهم. ولكن ما باليد الحيلة

Definitely not, since it’s not part of the Kuwaiti culture to care about its environment. Most of Kuwaitis come from a Badou back ground, which is to dry out all natural sources then move to another one!
Check out Exzombie’s post about the Project Turtle. It sounds like a very good idea but when you give it a thought, it’s the Japanese community who cares more about cleaning our beaches and only once a year!
