Everyone has heard about the cyclone by now that is just reaching Oman and is expected to move north towards the Eastern provinces of Saudi and then maybe Kuwait (AlJazeera says its heading north towards Iran avoiding the gulf, but nowhere else does it say that yet). Gonu is now a category 5 hurricane, which the strongest kind of storm.
I tried finding some coverage on tv but there isn’t that much. Even Oman tv has some shows on.
I decided to check out Omani blogs, and fortunately I found two with some info, one with more updates -

Dubai TV was covering it earlier today

It was expected to hit Masirah island and they evacted everyone to mainland all 7000 residents, instead the cyclone changed course and hit Sur on its way to Muscat. Airport has been shut down and Sur is currently without electricty and phone lines are down. I’m not home so I dont know exactly what its like, but keeping tabs online! Thank god for blogs!

ok this will sound sily but i really dont have time to research it…
if it is coming to the gulf area and kuwait specifically…when will it hit….date wise?
o…if it does…are we going to have to stay indoors??
(thinking of the prospect of my final exams being postponed)

Damn, it could’ve helped that Redbull flying competition thing.
Anyway, hopefully governments will make proper arrangements and not ditch people and blame it on “it’s our first time too!”.

we are totally unprepared for such a natural incident here in Kuwait
a bit of rain leave us helpless, what will happen with a hurricane?
