الأحمر كان يعبر … بس الأسود دارج

هل لهذه الحملة علاقة بالإسم الجديد للشركة؟ أو بالشعار الجديد؟

زين = أسود؟

أو حملة لمنتج جديد نفس حملة الإيغو؟

They had the teaser ads for e-GO, which were basically the % completed of something we don’t know. I thought then that it was something about them being nearly done with their rebranding (which is massively delayed btw).

If this ends up being another teaser ad for a product, I will be disappointed and when they finally want to announce their big big news and start with teaser ads, it will be like the boy who cried wolf! Not everything deserves a teaser ad in my opinion. They should be used to a certain extent, using them too often just kills the whole appeal of teaser ads!

Then again, lets just hope its actually about their rebranding, if it is, I like the ad.

I like how this ad makes you think about the possibilities! :)

I just got back from Dubai.

I had a long looooong loooooooooong post written complaining about Kuwait Airways, but its useless, they are absolute crap as everyone agrees, basically everything expected happened, the plane was delayed, the staff was rude, when we got back the staff were eating McDonalds and had no idea about a flight, another delay, inside the TVs dont work, the light doesnt work, the usual stuff.

But its not just Kuwait airways, the airline is just a reflection of Kuwait as a country.

The difference between Kuwait airport and Dubai airport is half the difference between the staff here and the staff there! All the rudeness and carelessness here (the staff yelling at the Indians to move back, the guy taking my boarding pass and then taking the longest slowest sip of his 7up being very very rude at just taking his sweet ass time and basically throwing it back) compared to the professionalism and friendliness at Dubai airport, and how the staff were very friendly, and when an Indonesian woman passed everything without getting stamped (seems like her first time in an airport) the Emirati guy was very polite in calling her back and leading her to the right area.

The whole trip was like traveling from the middle ages to the Jetsons time and back! I know its a cliche and we talk about Dubai all the time, but it is all true, not because Dubai is so awsome, its alot more about how crap we have become!! When we got back, we landed in a zoo of unorganization! There were some renovations being done and the travelers were left clueless as to where to go and it took 10 minutes to squeeze through 5 meters to get to the luggage area! It felt like landing in some very poor uneducated 3rd world country, not one of the richest countries in the world with one of the highest levels of literacy!!

Anyway, its depressing to see how large the gap has grown between the two cities, and sadly …. it will only continue to grow!

One guy uses his position to fire 8 people in his department recently in order to replace them with another 8 people that are min “jamaa3ta” (his own kind).

Another guy uses his position to benefit someone very close to him who works in the same company.

My question is, why are they making a big deal out of these things?? I think Gonzalez and Wolfowitz would fit perfectly in almost any company here in Kuwait!!

Ghiras have done many public awareness campaigns regarding smoking, drugs, child abuse, and so on, and most of them have actually been good, unlike Rekaaz’s campaigns which try to teach us how to raise our children and how we should make our morals just like theirs, and nothing towards helping Kuwait or the society in general! Rekaaz is basically a propaganda machine created purely to raise the profile to Mohammed AlAwathi and push his views!

Anyway, the reason I mention Ghiras is that I was checking up their website in English and they need to check their translations. It looks like they went to someone like these guys, and went for exact literal tranlations instead of the meaning of the campaigns -

Tarzan make translate.

Thanks to Vincent who left a comment in my last post about Conan and Jay Leno … This was found in today’s AlRai newspaper -

I wrote a post recently about stopping Conan’s show on showtime and how annoying it was and I was surprised with responses I got and the support the cause got! I guess someone at Orbit cared enought to put it as an article in the newspaper!

This COULD be a reason to switch, if it wasn’t for showtime getting the English Premier League next season!

I saw this at work today. Some company actually faxed this ad offering their services!

wow.

A friend sent me this pic yesterday.

You can see the date and time at the bottom corner, so you know the time, yesterday afternoon …. the place is somewhere between Saudi and Kuwait City, and the license plate of the truck was a Saudi plate!

One thing is clear from this picture……

……its officially SUMMER!
