I just got back from Dubai.
I had a long looooong loooooooooong post written complaining about Kuwait Airways, but its useless, they are absolute crap as everyone agrees, basically everything expected happened, the plane was delayed, the staff was rude, when we got back the staff were eating McDonalds and had no idea about a flight, another delay, inside the TVs dont work, the light doesnt work, the usual stuff.
But its not just Kuwait airways, the airline is just a reflection of Kuwait as a country.
The difference between Kuwait airport and Dubai airport is half the difference between the staff here and the staff there! All the rudeness and carelessness here (the staff yelling at the Indians to move back, the guy taking my boarding pass and then taking the longest slowest sip of his 7up being very very rude at just taking his sweet ass time and basically throwing it back) compared to the professionalism and friendliness at Dubai airport, and how the staff were very friendly, and when an Indonesian woman passed everything without getting stamped (seems like her first time in an airport) the Emirati guy was very polite in calling her back and leading her to the right area.
The whole trip was like traveling from the middle ages to the Jetsons time and back! I know its a cliche and we talk about Dubai all the time, but it is all true, not because Dubai is so awsome, its alot more about how crap we have become!! When we got back, we landed in a zoo of unorganization! There were some renovations being done and the travelers were left clueless as to where to go and it took 10 minutes to squeeze through 5 meters to get to the luggage area! It felt like landing in some very poor uneducated 3rd world country, not one of the richest countries in the world with one of the highest levels of literacy!!
Anyway, its depressing to see how large the gap has grown between the two cities, and sadly …. it will only continue to grow!

Well now we have to admit that we are all responsible for what is happening to Kuwait. We allowed it to reach this level of mediocraty; we kept quite for a looong time and we never took action to force changes. Now we are all paying for it (or some of us!). It will take a long time to reverse what has been taking place for years…. it is like a systematic way of destroying what ever system we had in Kuwait. It is about time to do something about it, instead of just complaining. We need to use our power of voting to put the right people in the parliament, and then keeping the pressure on them to make a change.

Believe me, I had a trip once from CAIRO international airport to Kuwait with KAC the delay was 13 hours, I was stuck in the international zone, no hotels, no food.
I was told that the plane has a fault and They are waiting for the Londong plane to arrive Kuwait and takes the Kuwaiti Passengers in Kuwait and comes to cairo to take us, Its like a car pool and who’s going first to school? Is this the way they treat there customers?
I used Egyptian air, well guess what? ITS WAAAAAAY BETTER, Sij enna mafi TV in economy class at least the map screen still works and a decent meal, its been 2 years now I never had a delay and the planes depar. on time 8;45AM.

yeah KAW is really bad, but I’ve seen worse, it’s called Jordan airways(or 3alia now), the trip which takes max 2.15 hours, had us for 6, food was given in shoeboxes, and you have to take your bags, get out and roundtrip inter the same airport (Aqaba) and recheck them after an hour of explaining that powder milk is used to drink milk, and an MP3 player is used to hear music….!!!
and even after that, end up missing and iPod and an MP3 player stolen from you…..!!!
returning to the subject, I don’t feel comfortable knowing that this 25ilthish assembly is gonna be replaced by the 5tish in few years, Librals are weak, there are no strong alternatives, so people in the name of religion will stick to and repent by choosing the islamistians……!!!
and then we will be really fucked, islamistians don’t need to bribe you with money, they have heaven in thier pockets, they’ll simply wave some repent papers and bring in reciters and people will jump to them……..!!!
me, you, and every one were shouting our lungs out pointing to our problems, and before us our fathers, this country is still in shit going through shit and held hostage by shit, either we take it to the next level, and take back our KUWAIT, or believe me, there won’t be anything left for the generations to come…..!!!
have a nice shitty-less day….!!!

last week i was in dubai and as i was walking around in emirates towers mall i saw shaikh mohammad bin rashed walking down the escalator with a business companion.. no security no fuss.. its difficult to compare kuwait with dubai.. like it is to compare india with china.. things can move much faster in dubai.. but if we manage to combine functioning democracy with developement that would be the ideal..

Middle eastern democracy is great isn’t it?

QAR, this past election seemed to have been the freshest election in terms of people pushing their choices instead of the corruption choices, but we have actually gone back if anything! What is the real solution to this problem?? My opinion is that it needs a real decision by top decision makers to invest in education, real education!!
Jandeef, summer is the best time so dont worry, less people here, which is the best you can ask for!
D&G, thx ;P
Vincent, the did the same to us a few years ago in the US, we stayed more than 30 hours waiting for a replacement part to come from god knows where, and every 4 hours we would go to the airport again….pure crap!
EXzombie, we all seem to agree that the country is doing down the drain, and we all agree that we need to do something instead of just talking about it, but what suggestions do you have for us to make a change?? I am trying my best to live the change and make an example hopefully, but it seems to be nowhere near enough to make the country a better place…its really depressing!
purg, u complain too much about my complaining
zaydoun, true
DR, sorry that wasnt the intention, but thats reality!
bu ziyad, i trully believe the problem is with the people of Kuwait, many of us refuse to see a problem and still live in the past of us being on top and the most advanced! The younger generation who hasnt lived the glory days is being fed alot of crap by the older generation and we are full of ourselves for no reason at all!! I still repeat saying that education is the only hope for us! Not just academic education, but an education on what it means to be a Kuwaiti, how to love your country, how to appreciate life and not just want to be breastfed by the government!!
guessed, ya, so true!
hanan, alla isalmich thx, and unfortunately it wasnt a choice to use them, I had to!

Dear Q,
we need to step up, and be tougher, we need to expose and to force the change, we know their weakness, we know that eyes from the west are monitoring, why not use that to our gain…..!!!
I’m not saying to over throw the Family, I’m saying why not force them to work and lay off the slog, take care of Kuwait and thier people once again, complete the Abdulla AlSalim’s Saga, and see it get through, reform has begun, by you and me and many others like you said, we are the example, now the example needs to be unfolded…..!!!
we can use the media to support us…..!!!
we have the connections, and the creativity, it’s a matter of time…..!!!

The Delhi Airport is more organized than Kuwait Airways. Take in mind that Kuwait is a smaller and richer (The population of Delhi is 13,782,976 not factoring people traveling from other cities and villages). The people were extremely helpful and everything went smoothly.

I don’t fly Kuwait Airlines because of safety issues, but I also had a terrible experience recently with QatarAir, who are pretty good most of the time. They lost my suitcase for THREE DAYS and didn’t care. Didn’t care, didn’t follow up, didn’t even apologize. Unbelievable.
