What is it with us and cars?
A couple of new deals and an old one to show our relationship as Gulf countries and car manufacturers -
Kuwait firms agree buying Aston Martin stake
Two days ago, Investment Dar and Adeem Investment Co. agreed to buy a stake in Aston Martin (around 15-20%) for $772.6 million from Ford.
Bahrain buys into McLaren
A couple of months ago, Mumtalakat Holding Company, wholly owned by the Kingdom of Bahrain, agreed to buy a 30% stake in Formula One team McLaren.
This is the Kuwait Investment Authority stake in DaimlerChrysler (Mercedes)

actuallyy what the two kuwaiti companies bought was not only 20%.. it was more than 80%. Which basically means all the company. Its sad to see all this money to be out of the country,,yet we dont blame them. Who can do anything in this country when you have such government and such natioinal assembly.!

the auto motive industry is good indusrty. it has a firely sold indusrial base and it is one of the few industry that is shariaa complinet and usually considered to support good humiane working condition.
If you have the money to buy a fairly good car company go for it.
And don’t foregt that it is in our intrents as oil producing country to diversify into industries that demand fuel.
I hope i made sense because I don’t feel like proof reading what i wrote.

Zaydoun, they should give Investment Dar shareholders a dividend of a DB9 each instead of more cash or stocks!

j, yeah I saw on CNBC Arabia it said 80% of the company but it was split between the Kuwaiti companies and another group. The whole consortium bought 80%.

Simple
Car lovers invest in cars! Its evident that there are many car lovers that live throughout the world, especially in the Middle East….these are the same people who own/run the firms/businesses that have decided to invest heavily the various car industries (manufacturing/racing)! — It’s a Passion and remember, a lot of us are told to follow our passions/dreams in life! So WHY not invest in cars.
