I just upgraded wordpress on my blog from an ancient version to this new 2.1 version.
I wasnt sure what I was doing to be honest!
For about 10 or 15 mins, I thought I lost my blog….really I did..
I actually felt like I lost a part of me for a moment! I kept telling myself everything is ok, but then there was nothing on the main page and all i could do was think of some posts, the one that kept popping up on my mind was the sabiyya visit for some reason!
The feeling of losing all my posts is not the same as working on a project and losing it without saving (which has been happening alot recently), its more of losing an idea or a belief.
This blog really does mean alot to me, I have had it for a much longer time that I have had a single job. So far its been almost 2 years and a half!
I just thought Id share these very weird feelings I got when I thought I lost this small spot on Web 2.0! Funny how someone can get attached to something so intangible and abstract such as a website!
Ever thought of what it would feel like to lose your blog? (for bloggers obviously)

Speaking as a blogless person…
One of the good things about losing a blog is that you are no longer beset by the feeling that you need to write something. For me it was a relief to let my blog slip into oblivion although there was a bit of saddness - it was like I was disowning myself; however, when a chapter ends, another starts
I think our blogs are not “intangible and abstract” as you have said, there is more into them than that. They document specific moments of history, they represent the thoughts of a generation, they connect people, who in real life, may never have the chance to meet, and they even bring together people who are different in every imaginable way close together in harmoninous co-existence (unless hackers intervene that is).
Our blogs make us classless, ageless, vocal and powerful…..Are we to be blamed for loving them?

when i switched from blogger to wordpress, i couldnt import any of my older posts. Although i had only been blogging for a few months, i had over 300 posts and i felt bad not being able to move them. I had to start from scratch with the wordpress blog.

Laialy, there sure are more important things in life, and thats why I thought I wouldnt care much about losing the blog…and was surprised that i was sad for a few mins!
shosho, now that u r blogless, do u miss blogging again? if you do, would you blog under the name shosho again? and i like ur description of a blog.
Jandeef, if u lost SS you would have LOTS of ppl angry! Talk about a real place that documented history here inkuwait!
Fonzy, when I switched from blogspot to Wordpress I went to professional help (nibaq), who helped me save things before and then transfer! I do have alot of duplicate posts from way back though! Still, better than losing them!

Already thought about this before, came to the conclusion that if my blog gets deleted it would be the end of blogging for me. its like fuck it wont bother restarting.

heh, Mark I was thinking that too! We’d probably do what shosho did and use it as an excuse!
Then come back to blogging a couple of months later under a dif name!
