If the concept of money did not exist, in the sense that you didn’t have to try to get it because it does not exist … what would you be doing with your life?
And I dont mean things like bumming around or chilling, I mean what would you dedicate your life for? what would you be doing in the world?
How does that compare with your job?

Well the best part of “if the concept of money didn’t exist” is that people would not be differentiated or distinguished by their economic status. People would be valued by their morals, good deeds, and education.
I would say devote my time in helping the world become a better place for everyone to live in peace.

hehe i would definitely be unemployed cos I work with money, I’m a financial analyst. If that is gone, I would be more than happy to go back to my PR job in the Lebanon nightlife.

Barter ;P
Your question is more historical than philosophical because that’s what people used to do before inventing money, and they will return to bartering once money ceases to exist just to get what they want.

Interesting answers!
Shosho, im not talking about an economical structure, im talking about what you would be doing with your life if money was not an object, you dont work for some sort of financial reward, but for self satisfaction….what would you do?
Purg, i knew that before u said it!
esetch, thats the most fitting answer for you! At least you’ve been actually doing that too.
Personally, Id agree with ntt, id probably be helping people somewhere somehow, or maybe right now help with the environment issues..

well..I agree with most of the comments specially the one about live happy with my family and sleeping, however..I think it would be a great chance for me to invent “money” and get busy..loaded baby

I’ll be doing just the thing I’m doing now! Hairdressing! I was a straight A student in Kuwait and I never did what my family wanted me to do: to become a doctor!
So the answer for your question about what if there was no money: That won’t make anything different to my life except maybe traveling more!
But I think that’s a good question asked to Kuwaitis!

It’s hard to visualise a world without money. Bank notes now, precious/rare items earlier e.g. Gold, grain, or whatever wasn’t available and a need either existed or was created for it.
But to answer your question, I’d probably do something to be admired for, like paint or write poetry.. or even become a philosopher like ancient Rome or Greece or such great cities of the past.
Every incentive we have for work is related to money. Fame, status, marriage, respect, owning property.. all come with owning money. Yes even respect.. remember 7alqat 6ash ma 6ash when they inquire about some Shaikh? They ask.. Shaikh asil? Shaikh men el 3ayla (the royal family)? wella shaikh darahim?

and if I DO become a philosopher, I’ll contemplate your question and give a more suitable and ‘philosophical’ answer

Hahahahaha!! I like AyyA’s answer!!
Anyhow,
I think I would agree with what a few other people commented. I would spend a lot of my time traveling and trying to do humanitarian work, since that is my passion at the end of the day. I would also do some consulting work for friends w/ businesses, esp. if any of the businesses are branching out to do volunteer/societal work.
I also think there are other adventures I would take-part in……
