Yes, you guessed right….they are all athletes representing Qatar in the Asian games in Doha.
The athletes above come from - Kenya, China, Bulgaria, Tunisia, Pakistan, Sudan, Turkey, Iran, and probably alot more countries!
The names I have on are their real names, otherwise known as “other names” on their profile!!
Now I have nothing against nationalizing people who benefit your country, but there has to be a limit for the scale of something like that! To have 3 or 4 people is fine, but more than 30 athletes from abroad is pushing it! I didnt look at every single name in this list, and I didnt put all the others I saw….take ur time to browse through it and enjoy it!
I guess winning has to come at any cost!?

i hear bahrain also have some nationalized atheletes. Now I know why qatar “mish6ata” 3ala doha 2006.
I remember there was the arab games in jordan (1999?), qatar’s weightlifting team had the winner of the previous tournament (lebanon, 1997?) a lebanese, a pakistani, and a bulgarian. How stupid can u get?
PS: Angel Popov 7ada 3ayish il door, he’s the only one who deserves it

The issue is not about granting citzenship to people who live in a country or serve it, its about mercenary citzenship, you selectively pick people and give them more rights than the people who were born in a country, speak the language, have grandparents who established the country, and then their childern have to wake up and see their country turned into a large rich asylum center of renegades.
Bacher they change their name to the United State of Qatar, and make a 3anabi card for all people who want to come there.

I know that now the Olympic committee changed the rules cause of Qatar. So that now a person who immigrates has to live there for 3 years before being an athlete for them.

nibaq,
even fifa changed the rules for qatar, when they tried to nationalize that brazilian who was top scorer in the german league back in the days of qualifying for the 2002 world cup, they wanted him, his bro, and another brazilian, oo the thing happened infront of everyone, he was going to get paid 2.5 mil euros a year, not including bonuses that include a goal bonus too.
i wonder how qataris feel about this whole tajnees thing, it pisses me off that they try to “cheat” and i am sure that there are some qataris are against it, but i wanna know if some actually support it.
its like a huge slap on the face of the qatari atheletes, “ur not good enough, so we will get someone from abroad”
sad really

I know of a young talented female Kuwaiti athlete who has been approached by Qatar to play for them. She refused.
What Qatar and KSA are doing reminds me of human trafficking or white slavery. It is so sad, but what do you expect from a society (all GCC included) full of ppl who refuse to earn their education, too lazy to do their own work and can’t even stand in line!!

… وكاسك

[...] In my last post, I talked about how Qatar nationalized more than 30 athletes for the Asian games. Basically they got people from different regions for different sports, for example they brought Bulgarians for weightlifting, Kenyans for running, Chinese for chess, and so on (perfect stereotypes I know but its true). [...]

[...] The games are over and there was one thing about it that pissed me off and its the fact that Qatar nationalized so many athletes, over 30 in fact. I think that was a very cheap and unfair move. I think there should be rules to forbid such actions. The Olympic and Asian games is a sport, not a business. Nationalized players should not be allowed to take part in the games. Kuwitism has more details. [Link] Filed under: Sports Posted by Mark on 12.17.06 | Related Entries [...]

Sorry for the really late reply but I hadn’t checked the site out since the start of December :p…. Anyways like to say 3eedkom Mbarak and Happy New Year in advance.
You guys know what’s really sad? It’s that all these athletes and many more are given only the passport but not full nationality. They don’t have a right to practice any form of citizenship, they don’t even have a right to carry the passports with them. The passports are called “Jawaz Muhemmat” literally “Mission Passport” which are kept by the government so that when the athletes are competing abroad they can travel with the documents. It’s like a work contract, if they work well then it’s renewed otherwise it’s back to wherever they came from. Ya3ni if they suffer an injury while playing or they can’t play for any reason is it over? I would think so, just like an old farm horse, break a leg and it gets shot outside the barn.
I agree with Chic Politika, it is a completely legal form of human trafficking.
