I was using the internet at around 6 PM, and at around 6:30 PM it went down….its nearly 12AM now and still no internet!! I use Qualitynet, so not sure if its the same with FastTelco and others or not!
Anybody know what’s the cause of this?? Is it related to the whole delay thing last month when some wire connecting us to UAE was broken or something??
This post is brought to you by GPRS using my phone, and its not as bad as I thought it would be! Its my first time using this whole technology, but its cool!
How come GPRS works fine but not my Qnet connection? Is it a different technology? Enlighten us oh great techies!

last i heard MTC use qualitynet for internet
you can check it easy , enter a blocked site and see which blocked page you get

GPRS is good but if you try to use it for a long time it keeps tripping. I had to use it for 6 months last year due to a cable problem in my area. Did you check your stat counter, I guess it shows which company. As for fastellco, it was working fine today.

في ظل استمرار عطل الكيبل البحري فلاج (FLAG) في عدد من دول المنطقة والذي أدى إلى انقطاع سعات الإنترنت الدولية المربوطة من خلال هذا الكيبل والتي أثرت على سرعة الإنترنت الدولية في تلك الدول، استطاعت شركة الاتصالات السعودية التغلب على هذه المشكلة من خلال تجهيزات شبكتها الدولية واستعدادها الدائم لمثل هذه الظروف الطارئة عن طريق توفير سعات الإنترنت الدولية بمسارات متنوعة ومتعددة تعمل على الكوابل البحرية القارية الثالث (SMW3) والرابع (SMW4) شرقاً وغرباً وبالربط المباشر مع مراكز تزويد خدمة الإنترنت في شرق آسيـا وأوربـا وأمريكـا. وقد ساعد مركز الإنترنت السعودي الشرق أوسطي (ME-1EX) والذي يقوم بتوفير خدمة الإنترنت لعدد من مزودي الإنترنت في دول الخليج العربية ودول الجوار بشكل كبير على تخطي هذه الدول للأزمة التي حصلت في خدمات الإنترنت لديهم بسبب انقطاع جزء من سعاتها الدولية للإنترنت المربوطة من خلال كيبل فلاج المتعطل . يذكر أن مركز الإنترنت السعودي (ME-1EX) التابع لشركة الاتصالات السعودية بالمشاركة مع شركة تليجلوب العالمية يتميز بتنوع وتعدد مسارات سعاته الدولية مع تليجلوب شرقاً وغرباً ومن خلال الكوابل البحرية القارية الثالث والرابع وبكفاءة وقدرة عالية، وذلك تحسباً لأي أعطال طارئة، مثل ما حدث مع شركة فلاج العالمية. وأشار المهندس سعد بن ظافر القحطاني مدير عام الشئون الإعلامية ومساندة التسويق بأن الاتصالات السعودية تؤكد في هذا الصدد التزامها الدائم برسالتها وبالعهد الذي قطعته على نفسها بتوفير خدماتها بأعلى مستوى من الكفاءة والجودة، وأنها تتشرف وتفخر بتقديم هذه الخدمة على أعلى المستويات، وتحرص دائماً وأبداً على خدمة العميل بكل حواسها، سواء كان ذلك لعملائها الداخليين في المملكة أو الخارجيين في دول الخليج والمنطقة. وأضاف أن الاتصالات السعودية قد تعاملت مع هذا العطل بشكل سريع حيث تمكنت من السيطرة على عطل كيبل فلاج الدولي ونقل كامل حركة الإنترنت الدولية خلال مدة وجيزة إلى الكوابل التابعة للشركة SMW3 وSMW4 والتي تقوم بنقل حركة الإنترنت الدولية بكل انسيابية، بل وتعدى ذلك إلى تقديم خدمات الدعم والمساندة للدول المتأثرة بالخليج واستيعاب كامل حركة الإنترنت لديها جراء هذا العطل وذلك من خلال السعات المتوفرة بكوابلها البحرية الدولية وتزويدهم بالسعات المطلوبة لتمرير حركة الإنترنت الدولية الخاصة بهم، وهذا يؤكد التزام الشركة تجاه عملائها بتوفير خدمات ذات مستوى عالي وتعمل بكفاءة عالية وفى نفس الوقت توفير البدائل المناسبة في وقت قياسي في حال تعرض أي من مكونات الشبكة الخاصة بالشركة أو الشركات الدولية لأي خلل.

Yah I had the same problem yesterday with Quality, but I think I need to learn how to use this mobile technology to access the net.

Once i met a guy who was sent to the US as a electrical engeneer to study, now he is in kuwait, works for the ministry of electricity or whatever! and this guy doesn’t know how to calculate 15+75, he can’t say ” i would love to have chicken filet with no mayo, please” he can’t say “i did— at work” .. the only thing i heard from him was ” tadreen they will build underground in kuwait!”.
So if there is another person like this guy in that minstry… agool ” salam allah 3ala hal deera…” What a SHAME!

the problem with the internet is due mainly to a problem from Ministry of Communication - MOC- and not your Current ISP ( Qnet,fastelco …etc).
M.O.C has a contract with a UAE company that acts as a Flag for all Kuwaiti connections, the UAE flag has a problem with its connection too ! MOC signed a new contract with a KSA flag as a contingency plan hehe ! the KSA company also has a problem!
the problem will take some time to fix, i think one month or so.
GPRS/Edge/3G from mobile phone companies utilize Sat connections

Qualitynet and GPRS goes to the internet using two different ways.
Qualitynet uses the marine cable connected to UAE, while GPRS uses a satellite link not linked to UAE.
Hence GPRS survived
