Every year, sporting events all over the world have many sponsors that support them and in return, get alot of publicity and viewers all around the globe! The biggest sporting event in the world is the World Cup, and its sponsors are usually the same group of top global multinational corporations that deal with consumers all the time, such as MasterCard, McDonalds, Toshiba, Yahoo, Gillette, Adidas, Coca Cola, and so on.
It gets hard remembering these sponsors, and even harder for the sponsors to try to distinguish themselves from each other and be significant enough to be remembered….
This is where Coca Cola made a big differnce this year! I saw in the first game but wasn’t sure, then I noticed it the second game, and today’s 3 games! Coca Cola’s advertising boards on the field are unique for every game! Instead of the orginal red and white logo, they use the two teams’ colors on the board for that game!
Check out the Coca Cola advertising boards in these pictures….

In the last board, you see the red color because it is England’s other color.
In every game, its a different board, and I personally thought it was an excellent concept! A company took the risk and tried to do something different in the biggest stage …. got to give them credit for their courage!
These boards will probably sell really well as memorabilia after the World Cup too!!
Check em out in any games you watch …. they’re pretty cool!

I find that idea a little silly because some colors made the logo look completely different. Made me think of Canada Dry in fact!

Now that you mentioned it, I kept an eye out and noticed that I didn’t notice the Coca-cola sign before! so I think atleast from a casual p.o.v this color changing might have been a waste of money.
I mean, the whole logo/color theme took years 10’s of years to be imprinted in our minds and there’s really no room for acting fancy, since all they’re hoping for is to keep on imprinting the same pattern and reinforce it. for me the result of the color change was that I missed noticing it completely. shame :-/

And I don’t mean things like company imaging or brand messaging, response rates or demographic statistics, media reach or color scheme, total sales or actual profit either. That’s all marketing shit.

Just heard about this via LINGUIST. The bit that intrigued me is the suggestion that machines can measure how drunk you are based on prosody alone.
