*UPDATE*
It seems like I won’t be able to watch the games on ZDF since its a dif satelite!
A list is channels showing the game is available on kooora’s website, and it seems like I can see it on the Italian RAI Uno, which is available on Hotbird!

To everyone else out there who thinks ART are ripoffs, forcing people to pay 118KD to watch the world cup, even though I have every channel they have, they told me I had to subscribe for a full year with everything, again!!
Watch it for free on the German channels, ZDF, RTL, and ARD, which is the 1 on the schedule.
They are found on the following frequencies -
ZDF & RTL - Hotbird T-Systems Ant3 11053MHz (H) SR 27500 5/6
ARD - Hotbird Duetsche Telekom A Ant3 11603MHz (H) SR 27500 5/6
Don’t ask me for details on how to program, this is the information I got when I pressed the button that gives the details about the channel!

sknk, dont think u need ART dish, as long as u have hotbird, which shows the Nabeeha Tahaluf channel, all you need to do is program it to the settings mentioned or look for it, maybe they’re already working

You can get the world cup on ZDF and RTL for free alright, ..if you live in Germany that is.
The German channels that you get on Hotbird for free are not the ones that will broadcast the games. Al-Waleed Bin Talal is no fool
Ps. The German (local) broadcast is in High Definition and 5.1 Dolby Digital sound. Nice

The channels broadcast the same programs here as to Germany, exact times, exact everything.

Unfortunately, the german channels will only broadcast the matches on the Astra satellite and not Hotbird. I went to the satellite street in Hawaly, they programmed my receiver to show some encrypted channels with the Viaccess encryption, and there might be a chance some of the Swiss channels will be open, as well as Eurosport. I’ve also read that RAI (Italian channels) will broadcast ’some’ matches. Tomorrow I’ll know everything, otherwise, I’ll have to go an subscribe to ART :/
You can subscribe to ART on a 6 months plan, which is 80KD.

It’s sad, but it’s true. If you are in Kuwait, it comes down to this: No ART = No World Cup.
What’s even worse, our government could have bought the right to broadcast the whole thing over the air locally for about $6-7 million Dollars tops and they didn’t do it!
You’d think they would do something like that, at least to distract people from the elections, but they are so damn cheap and stupid, they didn’t even consider that as an option!
Go figure!

o foood served for free also..

Don’t do it! They will only rip you off with bad cards and decoders. I know you’re an avid football fan and this means a lot to you. Take my word bro, swollow your pride and get the official ART card (it has the world cup logo on it). I got mine today for 80 KD and I am nowhere near you as a football fan

Just to make it sweeter, the card has all the games; all of them simultaneously. Ten ART World Cup channels playing at once in two languages in stereo.

I heard Iran, IRIB or something, plus some channel from Azerbijan and a Slovenian channel!

If you guys want to watch the matches the “ghetto” way, just download TVUplayer and watch them on ESPN2 (with English commentary and after-match analysis). If a game isn’t shown on ESPN, just select CCTV5 (chinese) which are surely showing them.
Try it if you have a fast internet connection :). There are also other similar solutions BTW if anyone is interested.

if you want watch world cup on hotbird for free and you have humax 5400
go to hawally and they will program your humax and open these channel for you
TSI 1
TSI 2
SF1
SF2
all these channel broadcast world cup and
all this for 2kd
some shop will say its 5 kd for the program
but its just 2 kd
i watched sweden match today on tsi 2
the good thing these channels are wide screen.
there is some reicevers cost between 20 to 30 kd can open these chanel so ask in hawally

Guys
I was told that a simple cheap STARSAT or other FTA re-programmable receiver (you can program with the latest file taking it from internet) can be the solution (Eurosport or Swiss TV on Hotbird).
BUT the shop dealer was adding from the menu’ some other information/ numbers/codes.
Can we find out what codes we need to enter? (about 12 digits?) and watch the world cup?

Hi, I am in qatar. I use startrack receiver and I get so many hotbird channels. Last semifinal match I viewed in the SF1 channel and today that channel is blocked. How can Iget it or can you please tell me on which channel I will get it. How can I tune the receiver to get it.
