Yesterday, my friend and I decided to drive around and look at the different election campaign headquarters (الممقرات الانتخابية) around Kuwait. The plan was to take pictures of these places and see where the momentum has reached by now in each electoral district.

We drove around going through different areas and in general it was waaay too quiet!

Mishrif and Bayan were our first destination, and they were empty, no big names or big signs or even major maqarraat up yet!! The road between Mishrif and Bayan used to be great, with all the maqarraat in one place and the action there, it used to be called shari3 aldimoqra6iya at one point, if im not mistaken. Yesterday, I realized that all the open spaces that were there and used for maqaraat has turned into parking space, houses, or patches of planted areas! It would be a shame if the maqaraat were distributed throughout Mishrif and Bayan, not as much fun as being all together!

From there we headed towards Salwa and Rumaithia, Salwa we passed by briefly, and saw a few signs for Mikhlid AlAzmi, but nothing major really. As for Rmaithia, I was expecting total chaos as usual! I love going there at election time, they go crazy there with their signs!! I remember a lightpole last election that was covered in signs from bottom to near the top! Anyway, we drove inside Rumaithia and around and we were very disappointed! Only Salah Khoursheed had his signs all over, especially in the roundabouts, but even his maqar was still being worked on and not open! I’ll visit againt next week and it should be more interesting!

After our disappointment from our tour so far, we headed to Surra and Adiliya, and it was boooooooring! Absolutely NOTHING! Someone needs to tell them that there is an election coming up in less than a month!

From there we headed to Qurtoba and Khaldiya, it was a bit more active there, with Naji AlAbdulhadi and Ali AlKhalaf having their signs up, and there was a crew putting up some posters for Ahmad AlSadoon. As for the maqarraaat, we drove by Ahmed AlSadoon and Naji Abdulhadi’s maqarraat (which are in the same place), they didnt seem to be open but it was like a beehive there, so many people in their cars doing stuff, from working on signs to shouting on the phone, to carrying stuff…and so on, it was a good atmosphere! Ali AlKhalaf’s maqar seemed open, with many cars and people there, and it looks like its been open for a while too, since his signs were up very very quickly after the announcement to dissolve the parliament and having elections!

From there we headed to Kaifan, which seemed to be active and had signs and posters all over. I haven’t seen any of the maqaraat there but at least you can see that there is an election happening!

From there we went to Shamiya, it was too funny. There were two signs only, one in AlKharafi’s maqar (which is open), and one in AlSaqer’s maqar (which wasnt open yet)! I doubt they will need to spend any more on signs, since its just them running in that district and anyone else trying to run against them will disappear into obscurity!

Finally, we went to Tha7yat Abdulla AlSalem, and apparently they’re the only district that has realized that there is an election coming up!! The place was covered in signs and posters, almost only from Marzouq AlGhanim and AlMutair! Faisal AlWugayan also had a few, but noone else really had anything! Marzouq AlGhanim covered the whole area in record time! AlMutair has one really huge sign that scares me alot! Its in between two streets and is extremely high and not that wide and all I kept thinking was that it was going to fall any minute if some wind hits it!! I will take a pic soon to show what I mean! As for the maqarraaat, this will need a whole seperate post, which will be done soon. All I can say is, check out their maqaraat today! Its unbelievable, and im not only talking about size!

Why is it only Tha7ya that is going crazy already?? Money, business influence, fierce competition?? Or just flash and showing off?? It really feels like a different planet there!

I know this is long, but ill try to make it shorter and with more districts with the next update!
