Has winter forgotten about us?!
Its February and it still hasn’t been cold at all! We had a week of cold weather and thats it!
Im loving this weather, but Im just worried….where is winter? Long time no see! Also, summer came and went without really being as hot or humid as it used to be!
Is global warming changing us to a mediterranean weathered country?? Nice weather all year long?!

Ok everyone, let me make this clear again, I respect people’s choice to take action against something and boycotting is their persoal choice and I commend someone for taking a stand even though I dont agree with their reasoning but at least there is some sort of passion towards something whatever it is…
HOWEVER….it is depressing to see all this energy on an issue like this and not on more important things!
Also, it is even more depressing when u see the government and businesses (itti7aad jam3iyaat & Sultan Center and others) also taking the same position against a country bcz of the opinions of a person from that country!
These institutions are bowing down to pressure from fundamentalists and therefore forcing everyone else to be part of the boycott whether they want it or not!!
What is even more alarming is that almost everyone i talk to, all educated, thinks that the boycott is the right thing to do and have a sudden hatred towards anything Danish!!?
The reason I didnt write about this earlier was the fact that I didnt think this issue was worth mentioning and that it will pass within a couple of weeks like the US boycott when the war started, and because it is such a silly subject to start with!! I still think its a momentary thing that will die down very soon as soon as people find a new issue or simply get bored of being politically active for so long!

Example of the effort (and ignorance) of this campaign!
No 4 Denmark

(Nido is made by Nestle which is Swiss and not Danish)

(American products??!)

Talk about a great Public Relations campaign (just like غراس and others)….yalla lets see our liberals spending as much money and effort on such an issue! I personally wouldnt!
Also check these news articles from the site above -

Danish embassy in Jakarta attacked
Great stuff and its the herd mentality of sharks smelling blood and going more crazy wanting more!

I wish you were here Burakan to see the reactions of people and businesses and so on! I honestly feel like whatever I say has no effect at the moment….things need to cool down a bit and people need to take a breather and take a look at the whole situation and then some sort of rational discussion can occur! At the moment it is pure animal instinct working on full power…thats just my opinion!

Borakan….
lil asaf ur article was the only voice of reason in the newspaper! Read what other writers said in AlQabas in the past 2 days!!
Personally, I started a post about the issue and then gave up. I gave up when I saw the extent this issue reached, and how backwards people are, and how the herd mentality here rules above everything else! The voice of reason is lost…and this time its not just the people, its governments and businesses who are following this trend also as part of the herd!
When you have all the arab embassadors going to denmark and governments taking a stand against another government, and big companies like Carrefour (French company) in Dubai and Oman and Sultan Center in Kuwait (I called and checked) banning Danish products, and even educated people I talk to at work and outside work are into that and agree with the boycott….all because of a cartoon drawn by one person 5 months ago!!! This person may be ignorant and doesnt know that it is forbidden to depict the prophet, or he may not care and drew it anyway…..either way, its one freaking guy at a newspaper, not the Pope declaring war against Islam!!
….its the lowest point our society will reach! When we succumb to a few fundamentalists’ ideas!
To be totally honest its an issue that depressed me alot. Seeing all this passion and action and coordination on an issue like this and not even 1000th of that on something like how bad education is in our country.
I wish we can send one tape of a friday speech to these countries, and how we tell people on a weekly basis and pray that God destroys “alyahood walnasaara”, and that may their women be raped, and that we want them all to die, and we say this to our kids who attend the prayers and obviously expect to learn something…
We have a society that doesnt understand any kind of freedom of speech! Also, the idea that a newspaper does not represent a country is something that we cannot understand! Here, the newspapers are a puppet of the government, in Denmark, even the editor cant censor the cartoon writer bcz of his freedom and independance just like the newspaper!
Borakan…
When u see all these people rioting and following the herd without knowing anything or trying to read up on the issue is depressing…
When people have no understanding at all of freedom of speech, its depressing…
When all people do is ask the government for more free money and to drop all loans, its depressing…
When a Jordanioan newspaper editor is fired for showing the cartoons, which can easily be found anywhere on the net, its depressing…
When you have doctors calling to boycott insulin bcz of this, its depressing…
When you have Kuwaitis telling other Kuwaitis to boycott KDD, its depressing…
When you see your country going downhill with no bright future to look forward to, its depressing…
BoRakan, it feels exactly like being on a beach and watching a 10000 meter wave come straight at you and there is nothing u can do about it… you cant run and u cant resist it…thats how i feel about things
I give up. I am a sheep.
Now I have a question for you….after the scandal of the newspapers during the Emir issue and with the shit we have seen during the yrs from all newspapers including AlQabas, dont you think it is time for you to disassociate urself with the newspaper?? Isnt it time for you to get online and use AlJassem’s model? Not a single censored article and another proof to our dinosaurs that the world is not what it used to be and is not under their control…

Away from politics for now…
You know how people complain that you can’t travel anywhere in the world these days without bumping to Kuwaiti??

First of all, I apologize for misquoting the translation from KTV. It was an honest mikstake after seeing the words flash on tv for such a short time, I used breasts instead of breast.
Second of all, thanks iDip and others who refered that this the actual translation used.
Third of all, Dr. Naji AlZaid’s reply is better than anything I would have said. It being an actual translation doesnt make it right! The meaning of the phrase and the meaning of the tranlsation are two totally different things regardless!
By the way, I think it is a joke that the ministry of information decided to reply to the last sentence of Dr. AlZaid’s article and ignored his main article and left it without a reply from them!
Read it and you’ll understand what I mean -
What?? No comment on how bad the ministry was during that time?!
