Ok everyone, let me make this clear again, I respect people’s choice to take action against something and boycotting is their persoal choice and I commend someone for taking a stand even though I dont agree with their reasoning but at least there is some sort of passion towards something whatever it is…
HOWEVER….it is depressing to see all this energy on an issue like this and not on more important things!
Also, it is even more depressing when u see the government and businesses (itti7aad jam3iyaat & Sultan Center and others) also taking the same position against a country bcz of the opinions of a person from that country!
These institutions are bowing down to pressure from fundamentalists and therefore forcing everyone else to be part of the boycott whether they want it or not!!
What is even more alarming is that almost everyone i talk to, all educated, thinks that the boycott is the right thing to do and have a sudden hatred towards anything Danish!!?
The reason I didnt write about this earlier was the fact that I didnt think this issue was worth mentioning and that it will pass within a couple of weeks like the US boycott when the war started, and because it is such a silly subject to start with!! I still think its a momentary thing that will die down very soon as soon as people find a new issue or simply get bored of being politically active for so long!
————————————————————————–
Example of the effort (and ignorance) of this campaign!
Click on the images to see the gif file -

(Nido is made by Nestle which is Swiss and not Danish)
——————————————————————–
Talk about a great Public Relations campaign (just like غراس and others)….yalla lets see our liberals spending as much money and effort on such an issue! I personally wouldnt!
Also check these news articles from the site above -
Danish embassy in Jakarta attacked
Great stuff and its the herd mentality of sharks smelling blood and going more crazy wanting more!
——————————————————————–
I wish you were here Burakan to see the reactions of people and businesses and so on! I honestly feel like whatever I say has no effect at the moment….things need to cool down a bit and people need to take a breather and take a look at the whole situation and then some sort of rational discussion can occur! At the moment it is pure animal instinct working on full power…thats just my opinion!

LOL!!
I admit that the “anti-danish” camp is good at using slogans.

I think now muslims will discover that it’s not just the prophet they mock… they mock God and every thing else!
So, let’s boycott the whole world and bring back our students from abroad!
sorry Q!
I just want you to get ready for blackmail ;p
Soon people will figure out how irreasonable they were, and I wish they will learn from this lesson (and I mean both camps).

Q-
I find the whole issue to be grossly pathetic and hysterical. It is obviously now being used as a political tool for both sides of the political extremes.
I think it will die down soon. But what will the aftermath leave?
The violent and irrational reactions unfortunately speak loudly for the mentalities of many (most?) Arabs and Muslims. I cannot see how people do not understand that giving these little caricatures from a small second rate Danish newpaper such power and credence, and behaving in such a violent and irrational way, shows that their faith may not be as strong as they think to the world at large. And confirms the stereotypes.
Personally? Nothing could disturb my belief in my Creator and his Prophet (PBUH). Much less some ridiculous drawings that are the errant and irresponsible opinion of a few little men.

forza, ma3qoola after this whole post hem ur confused about shino aby oosalla?? I’ll highlight the two major points -
What I think about people boycotting, taken from my first paragraph -
“I respect people’s choice to take action against something and boycotting is their persoal choice and I commend someone for taking a stand”
What I disagree with -
“forcing everyone else to be part of the boycott whether they want it or not!!”

If people from both sides do not stop now, a religious war is bound to happen. This war is not between governments, it between people themselves. We had enough wars in our history; we need to live in peace with the civilized world.
One question; all these demonstrators(3ala golat Rasheed Elkhtar); ishyaboon?

Burning down an embassy is an act of war. I hope Syria realizes this

hello, i find my self drawn into posting my opinion on a subject that we should all agree on.. but ..
elmohem .. when it comes to the reactions i am reading here it alarms me that the people have decided to simply leave all they degnity behind them and liberate them selfs of any believe, which is thier personal choice.
but lets get back to the basics shall we? how one becomes a muslim???? ????
isn’t it by saying that there is only one god and that’s ALLAH and MOHAMMED is he prophet of allah???
see .. its kind of sad but we have to say both senntences together in order to be muslims.. and if we say that the Mohammed is simply a very religeous guy oo bss we kind of neglect some of the conditions Allah have ordered us to do..
Islam, saddly for majority is not about FREEDOM of insults.. which is the core of the problem .. they didn’t draw those cartoons to express an opinion they did it to make fun and mock others .. can anyone tell me why should we be dumbies and accept it??

Couldn’t have said it better myself. I totally agree with you!!
But I keep wondering, how come KDD didn’t get boycotted? Isn’t it danish related or something? I’m just assuming that because of its name…
February 6th, 2006 at 2:26 am
you said
“The reason I didn’t write about this earlier was the fact that I didn’t think this issue was worth mentioning”
that quote says so much about your relationship with your religion , so sad…..

please go here http://q8silly.blogspot.com/
and you will “hopefully” understand the reason for the boycotting of danish products
February 7th, 2006 at 1:51 pm
Well from what I’ve heard they are some countries in Europe who officially announced that they stand aside with the actions of publishing such arrogant images.
That’s worth taking action against, with reason of course. Another thing I read was that the general danish public, 70% or something like that don’t see why the publishers of such images should apologize for anything, that’s just being absent-minded and talking in issues that they have no knowledge of.
But then again who can trust the different sorts of media.
Atleast there are some muslims who are getting together with ration towards this subject.
February 8th, 2006 at 3:21 am
yes safi
which is alot Less of what i can say about people here , at least in the blog!
http://q8silly.blogspot.com/
February 8th, 2006 at 11:04 pm
Haha well people can be odd on a subject for different reasons, some reasonable and others just stupid.
You meant about the getting together, din’t you? I would presume so.
February 9th, 2006 at 2:30 am
can you give examples shuroq?
March 8th, 2006 at 12:56 am
I think we need to look at the broader picture here. A newspaper printed something demeaning and insulting to Muslims…now Muslims are burning down embassies…this is indicative of society, not the international situation. Muslims themselves are oppressed by their governments, it is not allowed in places such as Syria to protest the corrupt government practices, but it is ok to aim a protest at a foreign western entity. If we had less corruption and more cohesiveness and fredom to determine our own governments and laws in our own countries then we would not see such occurences.
