I am sure most of you already heard about this or read it somewhere. Mahmoud Ahmadi Nejad, in one instance, destroys everything Khatemi was trying to achieve in the past few years in strengthening ties with the European Union countries! Khatemi’s efforts in international relations and his attempts in creating economic and political relations with countries all over the world took many years and seemed to work to a certain extent.

The best example of the benefits of his efforts is how Iran barely survived the nuclear reactor issue, with alot of help from the European Union!

During a speech in an anti-Israel rally, Nejad said that Israel “must be wiped off the map”!

How stupid was that remark? Not only does he lose any allies Iran made in recent years, but the worldwide reaction against Iran made them even more isolated, with the UN condemning the remarks and the president’s rashness!

With the amount of pressure the Bush administration is putting on Iran, Nejad basically gave them an excuse to do what they want, and gave any other country a excuse to support the US! This was a direct threat to destroy another country!! What’s worse is that if a country like Yemen or Kuwait said that, it would cause a minor problem, but would be forgotten, but if a country like Iran says it, then it is a real threat knowing that they have the nuclear technology to do so!

On the other hand….

Maybe this was going through Nejad’s head and it wasn’t just a remark that came out without thinking ….

Even though it has always been presented as an option, military action on Iran is difficult realistically! The US wont even consider it now that the situation in Iraq is taking much longer than before, and especially with Syria being the next probable target after the whole Hariri situation, Iran is not an option even if they wanted to attack, not enough resources, money, or even support from his people for the country to be in three wars instead of one!

Also, another reason that may give him a bit more confidence in talking with that attitude is that he knows that attacking Iran will lose the US any support it has from many Shiites in Iraq, which is the last thing the US needs at the moment!

I still can’t decide wether its a stupid mistake, or a calculated remark! For some reason I am leaning towards option 1…. I doubt he will be saying stuff like that after more years in the spotlight!

As a side note, what would happen if some of the Friday prayer speeches concerning Jews (not even Israel as a country) in Kuwait were publicized to the international media?!

Fajer AlSi3eed (فجر السعيد), the Kuwaiti writer responsible for many Ramadan shows, goes a step beyond her usual nonsense…..she found the “cure” for lesbians!!

Apparently, if ur a lesbian, all u need is to see Mishari AlBallaam, and let him touch ur hand!

I do not watch the show, but I am married, therefor there is no escape from Ramadan shows! Usually, I am on my pc while my wife flips through channels. Today was no different, I was on my pc minding my own business, when all of a sudden my wife burst out laughing, and tells me that I have to watch this. There is a character in the show 3adeel Alroo7 that is a lesbian teenager, and they show how her family suffers from this problem and how it affects them in the eye of others! (I guess since the gay character has been done more than once, this ws the next logical step).

Anyway, in this scene, she sees AlBalaam, and all of a sudden u can see how she fell in love at first sight, and then he showed some interest in her, and when her sister was taking a picture of them together, his hand touched hers!! (scandalous!!) ;P

Then, u see her laying in bed trying to sleep but she cant, she’s thinking of him and his touch!

Her sister tells her mom about it, telling her that she thinks her sister is finally “cured”!! LOL!

She has been UNlesbianized!!

Did a meteor fall on the car or what?!

I just got back from my barbershop, a typical barbershop in a typical jam3iya, run by a family of friendly Pakistanis.

I went there after work, around 2:30, hoping they would be open, and to my surprise, not only were they open, but the whole staff was there! Usually its just 2 or 3 ppl at a time working there, and during the daytime its even 1 or 2 ppl if ur lucky! Today, there were 7 of them!!

They were glued to the TV, while I was going in, I figured they must be watching something about the latest earthquake, or their usual cricket game….to my surprise when I went it, they were watching اللقيطة (AlLaqee6a) a Kuwaiti drama show on DubaiTV. I couldnt believe it! Everyone was at the shop at 2:30 to watch a tv show, laaa o Kuwaiti ba3ad!! I had to laugh about it, and I asked him what else they watch, and he said “Jabroot Maraa” (جبروت امرأة) with an accent, and “Mal Nafeesi and 4 girls o bluetotth” (عديل الروح)! LOL!

Laa o the worst part was that the guy cutting my hair was predicting the right sentences! For example, when one girl was talking to herself about her mother, he said “Alheen bigool yummaaa”, and he was right! Also, when a man and women were arguing, he said “Alheen bigool inta mino”, and again he was right! The women said to the guy “inta mino itkooon 3ashan…”! Sij mawatny thi7ik!

Also, I had to translate some phrases for him, for example, he had trouble with words like “shdarraaha”, I had to cut it down to words, “shloon ihya tadry”, had to take him back to “yadry”, “shloon”, and “haa” for a female, ilmuhim in the end he got it! He also loved the word “itkhassy!” when some actress screamed it out loud!

As a result of crap tv comedy shows in Ramadan, and since Im not a fan of drama, I decided to take things in my own hand…

My wife and I were doing some family visits, and during a gathering everyone started talking about old Kuwaiti plays and shows. That got me in the mood for some old fashioned Kuwaiti comedy, back in the day when tv and the theater were very funny and more importantly, very smart! They used to give viewers respect, knowing that viewers actually think and appreciate real art, unlike know, where most comedy is like watching monkeys dancing and clowns throwing pies at each other!

So we went to Markaz AlFunoon in Hawalli in North Nigra Mall (7ilwa, no?), and I got a collection of oldies for the rest of the month, some of which I have seen, others I haven’t. One thing that surprised me was that the shop is still living in the 80’s, they still havent even gone to DVDs!

Today’s shopping cart includes -

As you may have noticed through the lack of posts the past couple of days, my brain is blocked and I can’t think! Today being Friday, I have to post a poll, and with 10 mins to go for the day, Im just in time!

مر أسبوع على الزلزال الذي قضى على جيل كامل من ضمن الـ 55,000 ضحية في باكستان و كشمير! المساعدات العالمية بلغت 500 مليون دينار، 100 منها من الكويت، و آخر تقدير للأضرار يقارب الـ 6 مليار إلى الآن.

الله أنعم علينا بالنفط و ككويتيين نعيش في رخاء و حياة سهلة مقارنة بأكثر شعوب العالم و الحمدلله … و دورنا الانساني يحتم علينا مساعدة أخواننا ضحايا الزلزال بأي مقدار نستطيع

بدل انفاق 100 أو 200 دينار على شنطة أو ساعة أو حتى بدل صرف 20 دينار على وجبة، فكر بكم شخص تستطيع انقاذ حياته بالأدوية و المستلزمات الأخرى للضحايا!

بعد 10 سنوات، ستكون الشنطة أو الساعة مرمية في أحد المخازن و منسية، بالمقابل، قد تكون أنقذت حياة أسرة بأكملها أو ساعدت بإعادة بناء مدرسة لتبني جيل جديد يحل مكان الجيل المفقود…
