The results are in!
After 24 hours of the poll being online, which allows everyone one vote per day, we have a mini-study that shows the people’s choice of sushi restaurant in Kuwait.
The winner of best sushi restaurant in Kuwait is………Maki restaurant!
Obviously 74 votes is a small sample, but it does give a direction as to what people think. I dont know how to close the poll so people might be able to vote again soon after the 24 hours are over. Those votes WILL NOT COUNT. We will stick with the 74 votes.
I was surprised to see that 30% of the voters do not like sushi! I honestly expected that number to be significantly less! Other than that, no major surprises.

in my humble opinion maki isnt the best place for several reasons.
1st coz the place is just too small and there isnt enough space between the tables.
2- there is no parkinG !
3- the food ! i actually didn’t find it to be delicious @ all !
and the music is kinda loud !

Purg, its not that surprising! I expected that from the beginning, but the huge advantage that Maki got was a bit surprising!
It makes sense, they make great sushi in my opinion, they created their own market, and they are by far the best in branding and marketing themselves!
A tiny store in a far da3oos in salmiya doesnt become so crowded and popular for no reason! U have to give them credit for that!

But their food is considered excellent by many.
1- That’s part of the appeal, not being a huge a restaurant!
2- They have valet

Some people will refuse to enter a japanese restaurant because they think that the only thing they serve is sushi. If you don’t like raw, get fried or grilled or try some vegetable combination with noodles. Chopsticks are optional!

Yeah the music does suck (as mother tongue said). All they play is music videos from Mazzika music channel, and when a cheezy haifa wahby song comes on…they crank up the volume! not the sushi dining atmosphere I had in mind.

Sadly many people love the loud music there. I don’t mind loud music, but I do mind loud BAD music
But the food is by far better than the other ones in town

I know i know its EDO, i keep forgetting!
I sent them an email at the address from their website and they sent a really nice email back thanking everyone and saying they’re proud of the results.
Can i just say that this is one of the reasons of their success! They really have people skills and add a personal touch to the restaurant like no other restaurant in Kuwait! The quick response and the polite words are just an example!
As for Pepsi, I also sent them an email after writing my post. I got a couple of emails telling me I should tell Pepsi about this, so I did.
Their regional website, www.pepsiarabia.com absolutely sucks like i mentioned in the post, and there was no contact info!!! Even if a baqaala opens a website they should have contact info! Pepsi arabia didnt. So it took me a while to find the appropriate contact info and I linked my post.
The good part, I got a reply which was polite and speedy enough. The bad part, they told me to contact -

guess what?? No contact email!! What am I supposed to do? write them a letter and send it by mail?! Or call them and stay on hold and explain the whole thing?! Not worth it, their marketing campaign screw-up, their loss!
How can a huge corporation like Pepsi have silly problems like this!??! Look at maki, a tiny restaurant in an ally in salmiya and I was able to contact them throuhg their website and got a reply on the spot no problem!
In case u didnt notice, this shit pisses me off!!

hummm… lets think about it…
1. its small = you get to see everyone there (giz giz)
2. its in salmiyah = so you could go there after or before doing your daily cruising on Gulf Road (again giz giz)
3. it has a cooler look than the other Sushi restaurants so only the “hip” & “cool” ppl would go there (well guess what… GIZ GIZ!!!)
At the end… I truly have nothing against Maki but lets face it.. its the (giz giz) atmosphere that makes ppl go there not the food!

People skills, and great taste makes me go back.. when you walk in and sit down and the food comes to you without even bothering to open the menu and order because they just know exactly what you want and how you want it is the key of how a restaurant should serve.. very very friendly help, and the manager always comes to thank (me/us) in the end.. the down side is the giz giz as Bo Ghazi is saying, so booking at an irregular hour like 4:30 pm is best to avoid the young crowd and the loud music..
Maki all the waaaaaay.. Q, can you add my vote.. I’m number 75.. I didn’t have the chance to vote yesterday..

ppl like Maki cuz they think its cool and its the place to be seen and its the hip thing, bes honestly i cannot betray the 20 years that ive been going to Kei (thank you for spelling it right) just to be somewhere hip.

Hello, with all due respect to the ladies out there but they are the ones who made maki win this poll and makes it gain its unworthyy fame. Maki is a below average sushi place the food is very fishy,the service is very bad , prices are sky high for low quality food, the atmosphere is annoying there are few tables and people are very close to each other it gives u the feeling that ur privacy is violated so why in the hell this place can stand up on its feet? the answer is very simple they have those lebanese guys as waiters who seem to attract young ladies .thats why Q8y girls tend to hang out there and of course Q8y guys will follow them.

well sakura is the best resturant ever .. but its quite expensive for most People in kuwait so i vote 4 wasabi .. the price is cheap and the food tastes good .. a7la shay ‘kani furai’ .. CHawZ Ppl

am really surrprised by this fake poll, maki is the worst restaurant and its HARAM to call it JAPANESE, its kuwaiti, arabian suhi style with LOTTTTS of mayonnaise and lotttts of frying of everything could be fried and not to be fried. wasabi, sakura or edo yeah i would say no problem, bas maki yeeeeekh
