First of all, I need to clear something up….I have the memory of a goldfish!
This memory thing deserves a full post but I have to mention it before I continue.
I have always loved watching movies, but I rarely enjoy watching the same movie twice. Except that because of my really bad memory, most of the time watching a movie again a few months later is like watching a new movie! Im not kidding about this!
Anyway, when I got married, my wife and I both wanted the other to watch his/her favourite movies. Mine are a mix of old classics, art house movies, foreign films, and really silly comedy. My wife’s favourite movies are all Indian. So we made it a habit to watch a movie every week. Obviously this didnt work perfectly, but recently, we’ve been consistant! Every Friday, we look forward to it. One of the things I wanted my wife to appreciate was science fiction movies, which she was never a big fan of.
First, watched the Lord of the Rings trilogy. She loved them, which made me happy! She also wanted me to get her Gollum! (she loves all kinds of animals)
Recently, we started watching the old Star Wars movies. Again, after the first one “A New Hope” she was hooked! With my memory, I loved watching the first one because I cant remember anything that happened. Then we started the next one “The Empire Strikes Back”, and here I started to panic, because I couldnt remember ANY of it! It was great because I enjoyed watching a new movie, but what scared me is that I lived all my life thinking that I actually saw all the Star Wars movies but because of my memory couldnt remember them, when in fact I didnt even watch them in the first place! Totally freaked me out! That got me thinking, did I really see the Godfather movies?? I realized that I haven’t! I might have seen some bits and peices of the the first one, because I remember the beginning, but nothing after that! Should I start questioning everything in life?!?! Its scary to realize how bad my memory is! One of my roommates in college used to play a trick on me, where he would tell me that I owe him money, and because I trust him with my life, I would ask him how much and give it to him, he would then burst laughing at me, Mr. Goldfish! LOL! My friends from college hate reminiscing with me because its absolutely useless half the time!
Anyway, yesterday we finished the final part, “Return of the Jedi”, and its a kick ass ending to a kick ass trilogy! And my wife wanted me to get her anything with fur that was in the movie, which is alot!
Now we have to watch the 3 new ones, out of which the first one is awful, the second is a bit better, and the third is excellent! Those Im sure I saw bcz i have witnesses who came to the movie with me! I highly recommend the latest one, part III, “Revenge of the Sith”!
This is one hell of an outdated review, but who cares, I just saw them, and they kick ass!!

The only thing missing in Star Wars movies..the original trilogy is a sex scene…there was some brief nudity…but no love making at all
Maybe Lucas can add a digitally made sex scene..for a future DVD release…
Han Solo and princess Leia …they must have done it … between part one and part two….just see how thier relationship developed…

Q,
Elkubur shain
Believe it or not, I only watched 1 Star Wars movie (I think attack of the clones or something like that) and I slept in the theater out of boredom :/
And I only watched Godfather 1. It seems i’ve got alot of catching up to do too.
I watched all Lord of the rings though, but I wanna see them again coze i’m still shaky on the details. Fiction, mythology, with an accent hehe. I definitely need to watch it more than once to get it.
P.S.: Q, Did you get my e-mail?

Considering that you must have watched quite a few Indian movies… Do you like watching them? If yes, than it would be nice if you could name a few of your favourites.

I recently watched The Sixth Sense, for the second time of course, and it took me a while to remember that “OMG he’s dead” and “I see dead people” is such an unforgettable line from that movie. Now try to beat that Q.

I have the same problem with my memory Q, only I have found out that the things that I forget were never important, and I don’t mean birthdays here, coz I usually forget all birthdays and if mine was not on NYE I would have forgotten it as well LOL
Anyway; sometimes it’s a blessing to forget.

sarpanch, I have to admit I do enjoy watching them. Like the post says, my memory sucks, and especially with foreign names, its double the effort to remember! I remember Taal, easy name, good film, visually more than anything! I do like specific actors, Abishek, son of Amitab Bachan, he is probably the only indian actor who doesnt overact (or overdance)! He’s just smooth! And for actresses, this Rani Mukherji chick is excellent! In one year of marriage, I am a semi-knowledgable person in Indian movie all of a sudden! LOL!
mark, i just learned to go with the flow!
Mobi, wallaa i did see a few Indian movies, not as many as my wife would like, but ive seen more since marriage than all my yrs before! U still into Indian movies?
boghazi, which ones?
purg, do i know u?
forza, I remember taking somthing about this in psychology, some sort of association mechanism that is supposed to help u remember stuff! Its like when u forget ur keys and u try to act out ur exact movements hoping it would spark ur memory.
hanan, how about if i tell u that The Usual Suspects is my fav movie, and I have seen many times, and I still cant remember anything except the beginning and the end!
thekuwaiti, LOL! wallaaa u got it, just without the breakfast, fridays its one meal at around 5 pm after waking up an hour b4, then coffee, then movie, then sleep!
nazzal, mashallaaa this is a big club!! And thats the WORST part, seeing a face u know and they say hi and u say hi and u have no clue what the name is! ALWAYS happens to me!
ayya, weirdly enough, I never forget any birthdays! Even more weird, for some twisted reason I remember the words to most cartoons from childhood!!!

Rani Mukherhjee is one who gets better and better in each of her films. There is a movie called Black in which she plays a blind, deaf and mute girl [like Helen Keller] quite convincingly; In it is also Amitabh Bachchan who plays her mentor. The chemistry between the two is fabulous.
June 26th, 2005 at 11:55 am
sarpanch, yes I saw that, and she was good in that, but Ive seen her in better roles. I thought she was a bit over the top in that role! The movie was good though.
