Advertising…..back in time!

My last post on advertising generated many positive responses.

The main reason for that post was a request to anyone who has old Kuwaiti ads to send them to me if possible. I got great ideas on where to find them, but haven’t done that yet.

I did find a couple of old newspaper (more than 30 years, and decided to scan the ads from that. I will post them on a regular basis, and would love to get more from you people! Anything interesting from today’s magazines and newspapers, to anything 50 yrs old or more…

Anyway, this is the first of my posts….

….an ad for Gulf Bank, back in 1971!

  1. Q

That AD is more profissional looking than most of the Ads we see these days from NBK, MTC…etc. Although it does look alot like an old cigerattes ad

  2. BoJaij, I really like it!

    Simplicity works!

Compare this ad from 34 years ago to this modern day peice of crap!

  3. 6 digits telephone number!

  4. There is not one company in Q8 that there ad’s impress me coz all the heads of marketing lack imagination and taste with no exception.
When it comes to add agencies they are horrible and the people who works there are mr and ms know it all, and they know jack shit, and they all lack creativity. With exception of course 

  5. I like retro. Note that the guy has a suit on :P

  6. boghazi, eee i have another one with only 5 digits!

mosan, well the main reason the ads suck is bcz the ppl who make them are either too old or ppl who came to q8 2 yrs ago from Lebanon.
Either way, how r they expected to reach the common q8i??

  7. You know, I am sure this is a copy ad from another, just changing the name on the booklet!

  8. Q what is ur email i might have 1 of alghanim’s cars
