Out of the 15 pamphlets available in the picture, not even one of them had anything to do with health or medicine!
هدايا من الرحمن
حماية الفضيلة
أركان الإيمان
التقوى خير زاد
التوبة
الثواب والعقاب
الدعاء
These are only a few examples of what was on this “health board” in a mustawsif in Adeliya! Doesnt anyone in the ministry of health check their many mustawsafaat around the country?? This stuff is everywhere in places where it shouldnt be! Using something that is supposed to be educational and informative and turning it into a propaganda board is totally ridiculous, and is only another example of where this country is heading! Taliban state!

Get used to it. They have taken over the mustawsafat, and installed doctors and nurses who belong to their parties. Why read a pamphlet with health tips when you can enjoy reading about عذاب القبر? They don’t care if you get sick, only that you don’t commit a sin!

Q.
1st of all these pamphlets cannot be regarded to as “propaganda”. actually i couldnt understand what do you mean by propaganda? and for whom? as the titles indicate they encourage people to adapt moral values. i agree with you that more health-related pamphlets should be there.
In quran: ولا يجرمنكم شنآن قوم على الا تعدلوا إعدلوا هو أقرب للتقوىit means be fair and objective even with your enemies!

prop·a·gan·da
n.
1. The systematic propagation of a doctrine or cause or of information reflecting the views and interests of those advocating such a doctrine or cause.
2. Material disseminated by the advocates or opponents of a doctrine or cause: wartime propaganda.
Im not saying its right information or wrong information, im saying its propaganda, its material used to advocate a cause, material put deliberately in places it does not belong in to have a certain effect, which in turn, means it is propaganda!

any day when you have religion shoved down your throat is a bad day

Religious pamphlets—–> Mosques
Health pamphlets—–> Hospitals and Mustawasafs
Is that too much to ask?!
December 18th, 2004 at 4:30 pm
as i said before: almost all people, either religious or not, seem not to understand islam. by definition, islam is the absolute unconditional submission to Allah. and as you may know, each muslim is asked to deliver Allah message to non-muslims and also to remind muslims of good and to avoid sins. so basically, any one fully understands the idea of islam wont deny its interference in every single aspect of our life; from birth to death actually beyond that.
December 18th, 2004 at 5:41 pm
A valid point (I think) but do you believe that spreading the message of Islam should come at the expense of other more urgent information about… oh I don’t know… LUNG CANCER?!
Don’t you at least want healthy Muslims?

الإسلام دين شرير و كل من يؤمن بهذا الدين إما أن يكون شريرا أو إنسان مغسول الدماغ و هو بذلك يعتبر مشروع شرير و اللة أعلم

in my 1st post ive support Q’s view that more health-related items should be there; of course without removing the “religious pamphlets”.
December 18th, 2004 at 8:45 pm
the religious pamphlets, the no eating in public law during ramadan..its all shoving religion down your throat. if you were a TRUE and firm believer you wonldnt need anyone to remind you of what you do (im not point fingers and calling people infedels either) but the fact tat you have religion shoved down your throat and stuffed up your ass on a daily basis is not right. religion should bea matter of choice. if this continues at the present rate, in a few years, even in private western schools you will have forced prayer.
the fact that you HAVE to take religion class is absurd wether it be islam, catholicism, or judaism. if i wanted to be bombarded with religious fervor and slogans and all the other brainwashing, yes brainwashing because that is what it is, i would go to a monastery and live a life of celebacy and austerity. but im sure of the 2.1 million inhabitants of kuwait, not even HALF want to lead a life like that. so yes im exxagerating, so bite me!
also, im sick of people using religion as an excuse.
“hey will you have that report ready for me tomorrow?”
“inshallah”
lo and behold the next day the report isnt ready, and it was not because God didnt want you to complete it, its because your lazy ass didnt do it a week ago when it was assigned to you. its utterly pathtic that politicians use religion for their personal agendas and then go to Cancun (ehem we all know who im refering to)
separation of church and state is a must. as Zaydoun said:
religious pamphlets—-> mosque
health——>clinic
what is so hard about that? everything has a time and a PLACE!!!
also, do yourself a favor, and dont jump on the bandwagon!
sorry Q but i had to rant a little
its sickening what islamists are doing to Kuwait. if they are given free reign it wont be long before we are back to living in tents and riding camels…

Bo Rashed.. following your logic, should it be acceptable to display health-related pamphlets about cancer, blood pressure, diabetes, weight loss, etc. at the mosques, right next to the religious ones?
A simple yes or no, please
December 19th, 2004 at 1:12 pm
i dont know
YES may introduce plenty of items that could distract ppl attention!
NO means mosques shouldnt contribute in establishing the basic awareness of ppl
December 19th, 2004 at 2:40 pm
I’m tempted to say GOTCHA!
For this discussion’s sake… lets stick to health matters. There is a time and a place for everything. Yes, Islam needs to be taught - PROPERLY - but in schools and mosques, not at clinics that are built to care for our health. Just as you feel that health pamphlets distract from the religious purpose of the mosque, then you have to admit that religious pamphlets distract from taking care of one’s health!

discussion isnt a war so icant see why u r tempted to say “gotcha”! all parties r winners at least for being civilized enough to present their arguments nicely. next time iam discussing anyone iwish if s/he tell me if considers it as awar to stop doint wasting my time.
December 20th, 2004 at 9:56 am
Zaydoun, you say Islam should be taught in schools & mosques. So what about non-Muslim Kuwaiti’s? should they be taught Islam although its not their religion?
December 20th, 2004 at 1:05 pm
Non-Muslims should be free to learn about Islam through whatever means are available to them, but I don’t believe it should be forced on them.
Bo Rashed.. What war? Please lighten up. I even put a smiley face for you after the word GOTCHA!
