The electricity outage definitely has huge implications on the country for many many years to come. Lets see how big of a deal this was -
- For the first time since the 80’s, such a thing happens in Kuwait.
- The damage will definitely be in the millions, when we factor all the business that was suspended.
- Stopped shuaiba and other important revenue generating facilities.
- Pollution caused by the old fashioned generators to produce electricty (the amount of smoke looked scary coming back from work near mina abdalla)
- Telecommunications stopping for a while
So…..after all these losses, lets compare that to Abu Alhassan’s ministry, where he will be grilled for:
- Allowing parties
- Changing the picture of a mosque in the “athaan”
- …..and other incredibly important things that effect the country’s future
Sooooooo…..that leads to the rational conclusion that the minister responsible for electricity will be grilled by our wonderful parliament!
And in other news, cows have recently been spotted at hajj running around on their horns.
P.S. Oil and power minister will probably be applauded for his couragous efforts in trying to fix everything! They will come up with something like, “He actually went to the site of the incident! Look at him observing the situation without a bisht and with a nasfa maalat hoosha and imchaffis il eed! Alla ikhally il rayyis, alla i6awil 3umra….imbaaaaaaa3!”

Thats what you get when you use low quality fuels for electricity generation.

No power!!! But KD200 to compensate? What a bribe! KD200 multiplie dby kuwaiti citizens (about KD 200 million) isn’t it better to use that money to start development projects? fix first ring road? build the Sabbiya bridge? fix 4th ring road? improve the hospitals? or anything else worth using those 200Million KD on!

Give it a break.
The DC metropolitan area was out of power for FOUR STRAIGHT DAYS when hurricane Isabel came through here last spring.
Don’t start pointing fingers and accusing our country of being backwards when these things happen to even the most developed of nations.
Stop complaining and start conserving energy. I swear, I never saw people leave their houses with ALL the lights, t.v’s and air conditioners on for hours or even days but in Kuwait.
What ignorance.

New York had a 24 hour blackout!!! Shit happens!! It seems you just want to criticize the minister!!!
At least have a good argument!!

Anon, ur making it sound like i have a personal vendetta against the minister!! I dont, from what I hear, he actually is a very nice person, but that doesnt mean that he isnt in a position of responsibility when such a thing happens!
A few weeks back, the Japanese transpot minister quit because the train system was delayed for 5 mins!! Thats taking responsibility!
The point of this post wasnt to point the finger at the minister, it was to show the way politics (and the media) work in this country.

Not sure you can equate a Japanese with a Kuwaiti
Would you resign for a power failure?
Solar powered homes should be the answer. We have limited natural gas resources in this country, enough money to spare for solar power, and burning sunshine almost everyday of the year.
