When I got home today, I saw a huge group of kids on girgai3an near my place. My first thoughts were, “awww, this is nice! keeping the traditions.”
Then I noticed 3 things that really pissed me off!
- There were 15 kids, and 12 maids!!! (and yes I counted them)
- Four of the kids were on their mobiles!
- Three of kids were being carried by their maids!
What the hell happened to our society?!?

When I saw this image, I was so fixated by it and had to take the picture. I personally think its a beautiful image full of life. How one life ending provides food and a source of life for other.
Purgatory72, you could use this pic as an inspiration for your next poem

Wednesday, officially the start of the weekend in Kuwait, even though many of us have work on Thursday. Kuwait turns into an open view zoo. All kinds of animals are released roaming the streets prowling for their next victem.
Location for wild beasts -
Marina Mall
Salhiya
Souq Sharg
Just like last week’s post about the cinema and going out on a weekend, this time I went to Salhiya, on a Wednesday. I have been there once before on a Wednesday and that was months ago. Im not a big fan of Salhiya in the first place, I always get this annoying suffocating feeling when I enter. I try to avoid it as much as I can, but today I finished from a diwaniya, had a ghabga a couple of hours later, so a friend called me and asked me to join them at Salhiya, I thought to myself, “what the hell, how bad can it be?”.
This is the image that comes to mind -

In Ramadan its 100 times worse than normal days! Its like people are waiting for fu6oor, and then there’s a huge secret race (to the above mentioned places) that nobody told me about.
The worse problem is that some of the ashkal there were unbelievable! Following Jane Goodall’s example of researching gorillas in their natural habitats, my research at Salhiya starbucks showed that we had -
- huge groups of guys who are sitting and very rarely talking, without even once looking at each other
- you had women who would be considered prostitutes in any other place in the world (i couldve sworn one woman had body paint on, no clothes can be that tight!)
- guys illy cool chicken nuggets, grown men with spikey hair and pants tighter than girls’ o of course sraakh ib soot 3aaly o iltha7ka everyone has to hear throughout the entire mall (the KAAAAAAAAAAAAK style)
- the 13 or 14 year old girls who like like Cher or صبوحة but with more makeup
- guys who look and smell like they just left their own wedding to come to starbucks
I HATE WEEKENDS nowadays! Honestly I do! The thouhgt of sitting at home watching tv or reading a book is so much more appealing than joining the madness that is Kuwaiti weekend!
Who has a decent suggestion on what to do on a weekend? Lets say today, Thursday, where can someone go and have a good time without adding food or drinking into the mix??
I’m open to suggestions and will post the winning suggestion on the blog with a big thank you and an award!!!
